💚 Behind every burn statistic is a child and a family whose lives change in an instant.

Yesterday we shared that hot drinks are one of the leading causes of burns in babies and young children.

Today, we're sharing Charlie's story.
Charlie was just 15 months old when he pulled a pan of boiling water over himself. In this extract from the Mini First Aid Family Health Podcast, his mum, Michelle, shares the events of that day and the lasting impact it had on their family.

The reality is that many childhood burns are preventable. By raising awareness and learning simple first aid, together we can help prevent more families from experiencing the same trauma.

At , we are incredibly proud to support the , whose work over the last 25 years has helped educate families, prevent life-changing burn injuries and provide vital support to children and families when the unimaginable happens.

To celebrate this incredible milestone, some of the Mini First Aid network is taking on a fundraising challenge throughout August.

Together, franchisees and trainers from across the UK will walk the distance from Mini First Aid HQ to the Children's Burns Trust HQ - an amazing 150 miles. Every step we take will help raise awareness of burns prevention, first aid and the fantastic work of the Children's Burns Trust.

Throughout August you can expect:

🚶 Updates from our 150-mile challenge

💚Opportunities to donate both online and at classes, with every penny going directly to the Children's Burns Trust

As a Mini First Aid trainer, I know just how quickly a burn can happen and how important it is to know what to do in those first crucial moments. If, together, we can help prevent even one child from suffering a serious burn or give one parent the confidence to act, every step will have been worth it.

Our challenge begins on the 1st of August, and we'd love you to come along on the journey. Whether you donate, share our posts, join one of our classes or simply help us spread these life-saving messages, you'll be making a difference.

💚 Another fantastic annual visit to St Barnabas C of E Primary! 💚

What a pleasure it has been to return once again and spend time with all the amazing children at St Barnabas. Every year it’s wonderful to see just how much their confidence, knowledge and first aid skills continue to grow. 👏

The children threw themselves into every activity, asked brilliant questions and practised their life-saving skills with so much enthusiasm. It’s clear that they’re becoming more confident each year – exactly what we love to see! 🌟

Of course, Teddy was as popular as ever 🧸, and the choking vest was once again a huge favourite with everyone! It’s always fantastic to make learning first aid fun, memorable and hands-on.

A huge well done to every single child for your enthusiasm and willingness to learn. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. ❤️

And finally, a big thank you to all the wonderful staff at St Barnabas for inviting Mini First Aid Warrington back year after year. You’re such a welcoming school, and it’s always a pleasure to work with you. We can’t wait to see you all again next year!
