🩷Spreading smiles for World Su***de Prevention Week 💚

Today, one of our fantastic Hope Haven staff members took to the streets with his guitar and did a little busking outside Hope Haven!

The aim was simple — to make people smile, brighten someone’s day and remind people of the importance of connection and kindness.

You never know what someone may be going through, and sometimes a smile, a conversation or a little bit of music can make all the difference. 🫶

Remember… you matter, your feelings matter, and you are never alone.

We are thrilled to be hosting this event - please come along if you can!

Every Brilliant Thing produced by Theatre By The Lake comes to Hope Haven, Whitehaven

Everyone Here is delighted to welcome Theatre by the Lake to Hope Haven, Whitehaven for a special performance of Every Brilliant Thing on Tuesday 15 September at 7pm.

The performance forms part of Everyone Here’s work as lead creative partner for Hope Haven, bringing its citizen-led approach to creativity into the organisation and creating opportunities for people to experience outstanding arts and culture in an informal, welcoming community setting.

Every Brilliant Thing is an honest, uplifting and very funny play about mental health, resilience and the lengths we’ll go to for those we love. Told by a single performer with help from the audience, it creates a unique, shared theatrical experience.

Combining storytelling, humour and (a little) audience participation, the production explores family, love, loss and mental health while celebrating our capacity to find connection and hope in the world around us.

Bringing the production into Hope Haven creates a unique opportunity to experience professional theatre in a space already at the heart of the Whitehaven community.

💚🩷Haven you considered finding your Ikigai? 💚🩷

Ikigai is a Japanese concept that translates to "reason for being." Finding your Ikigai can bring more purpose, motivation, and balance into your everyday life.

Ikigai is delivered as a 4-week guided programme, that is designed to help you discover your unique sense of purpose and direction in life. Through reflective exercises, group discussions, and practical activities, you will explore your passions, skills, values, and opportunities to find what truly gives your life meaning. Each week builds on the last, offering tools for personal growth, clarity, and lasting fulfilment.

A different aspect of Ikigai is explored at each of the four sessions, so please try to attend all four sessions in the block. Our next four week block starts on the 18th September. Sessions are FREE to attend.

For more information, please contact us by calling 01228 819101 (option 5) or send us an e-mail at [email protected]

NOTE sessions take place in our activity room which is located on the first floor here at Hope Haven. Could you please let us know if you have issues using the stairs.

Don't let the title put you off.

Walking rugby is a one of the fastest growing sports. It is a fun and inclusive activity suitable for people of all ages and abilities. No previous rugby experience is required.

The game is played at a walking pace with no tackling, making it a safe and accessible way to stay active. It is ideal for those returning to sport after injury or retirement, as well as anyone looking to improve fitness, social connections, and overall wellbeing.

So what do we do at walking rugby?
🏉Ball throwing - great for hand eye co-ordination, it also works your core muscles and helps with overall fitness.
🏉Noughts and crosses - this is a great task for your mind and concentration, it also involves lots of bending and stretching, which can help with your mobility.
🏉Heads, Shoulders, knees and toes - this is the same as the game you played as a child but with a twist.
🏉Walking Rugby - a slow paced game of rugby but at a walking pace. There is no running or tackling involved. The aim is to stop the opponent heading into the TRY zone.

One of our participants commented about the session:
"It's great fun, I have noticed an improvement with my fitness and mobility".

Sessions are FREE to attend and is suitable for people or all ages (18+) and abilities.

Where do the sessions take place?
📅Every Tuesday
⏰between 2 and 3pm
