The Buttery Dish

The Buttery Dish Welcome to our canape, food & lifestyle workshops in the Cotswolds, celebrating all things seasonal.

I’ve always dreamed of having a walled garden.

There’s just something so special about being surrounded by old walls...it feels peaceful, private and like our own little corner of the world. I don’t think I can explain it any better than that.

I already know it’s going to become a very special part of The Buttery Dish, and I can’t wait to welcome you into our home and garden very soon.

We call this our Secret Garden...

It’s behind an old gate and is one of those places you’d never know existed unless someone showed you!

It’s peaceful, beautifully hidden and full of little reminders of the house’s past.

The large arched window was once the original front door to the house, and if you look carefully, you can still see the old stone steps in amongst the plants where visitors would once have arrived from their horse and carts!

I love imagining all the stories this house could tell.

One of the loveliest things about moving here has been getting to know the village.

Beautiful old cottages, the duck pond and quiet little streets. It’s peaceful in the best possible way.

The Buttery Dish has always been about bringing people together, and I already have a feeling this wonderful little village is going to become part of that story too.

I can’t wait to share more of it with you.

Every time I wander around the garden, I seem to discover another favourite spot…but this little corner has completely stolen my heart. 🌿

It’s tucked away and reached by a few wonderfully wonky old steps…and yes they are definitely staying!

I can’t tell you exactly what’s planned for this space just yet…but I promise it’ll make perfect sense when I finally can.

For now, it’s one of those places that’s all about imagination.

For our five days in the French Alps, one of the things I’m most looking forward to is shopping for all the lovely local ingredients once we’re there.

The menus are already taking shape, but I know I’ll be inspired by what we find in the local food shops and markets…fresh bread, beautiful cheeses, herbs, fruit, vegetables and probably a few things I hadn’t planned on buying!

I always love seeing what’s being grown and made in the area, then bringing it back to the kitchen and finding a place for it on the table.

And yes…I’m fairly sure there’ll be far more cheese than originally planned!!!

There’s a link in my bio if you would like to know more about our trip to The Alps...or if you would like to come with us...

Here’s another little room from the new house...

It’s completely empty at the moment, but I’d love to know what you think it was originally used for. We are going to use it in the same way too!

Have a guess in the comments...I’ll reveal the answer in my stories tomorrow!!!

I think this might just be my favourite little room of them all…

Tucked away beside the kitchen garden is the Pickling Shed.

I can already imagine shelves lined with jars of pickles, preserves, chutneys and cordials, all made with ingredients growing just outside the door. A place to celebrate the seasons and make the most of everything the garden has to offer.

Also, over the last few days it’s become something else too… the inspiration for a brand new idea that’s slowly taking shape for The Buttery Dish.

I can’t tell you any more just yet, but this little room has a very exciting future ahead of it.
