Do you know how to reduce the risk of overdose?

Harm reduction is all about your health and safety and making small changes can make a big difference. If you use drugs, here are some ways you can reduce the risk:

• Start with a small amount if you’re trying something new or don’t know the strength
• Don’t mix drugs or alcohol - mixing can be dangerous
• Use clean equipment every time - like needles or pipes
• Never share injecting or smoking equipment
• Avoid injecting
• Avoid using alone - have someone you trust nearby
• Know the signs of overdose and have naloxone ready if you use opioids
• Take breaks to help your body recover and lower tolerance risks
• Drink water and eat food to keep your body strong

It's one week to go until International Overdose Awareness Day! 💜

IOAD is an important opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma and remember those who have been lost. 🕊️

This year the theme for IOAD is: 25 Years On. Still Needed. Since IOAD started 25 years ago, sadly overdose continues to affect every community, even when it can be prevented. By speaking openly, learning how to stay safe and treating each other with care and respect, we can reduce the risk of overdose.

Please keep an eye out throughout the week for more information and content related to IOAD.
