Loneliness isn’t always visible.

Sometimes it looks like staying busy.

Sometimes it sounds like “I’m fine.”

Sometimes it hides behind laughter, work, routines, or scrolling online.

You can be surrounded by people and still feel disconnected.

During the lead up to Loneliness Awareness Week, we want to help challenge the stereotypes around loneliness and remind people that they are not alone in feeling this way 💙

A small conversation, message, or check-in can make a bigger difference than you realise.

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week may be over, but our commitment to wellness continues!

Last week we got out and about across Surrey, taking action for mental health in so many ways.

We visited students at Guildford College and to share information about the vital support available locally, because knowing where to turn makes all the difference.

Our team came together for a gardening session in our community garden, a chance to slow down, get outside and connect with colleagues. We were also thrilled to welcome the Local Community Fund, who are kindly supporting our garden this year, thank you! 🌱

We had planned a wellness wander along the canal paths around Woking, but the weather had other ideas… Instead, we swapped muddy boots for a warm coffee shop and used the time to check in with each other, because connection is what really matters, rain or shine ☕🌧️

Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us to keep the conversation going. Whether it’s getting outside, connecting with others, or simply knowing support is available, every action counts.

Our incredible volunteer Simon completed his London Marathon MyWay challenge in an amazing 4 hours and 36 minutes 🏅

Thanks to everyone who donated and cheered him on, Simon raised an incredible £605 🎉

Simon has been giving his time each week supporting our Community Connections service and helping raise awareness across GP surgeries in Surrey and this challenge was another brilliant example of going the extra mile (literally!) to support mental health and wellbeing in our community.

Fundraising makes a real difference to charities like ours. It helps us:

💙 Support people experiencing mental health challenges

💙 Reduce loneliness and isolation in our communities

💙 Provide wellbeing and recovery services across Surrey

💙 Reach more people who need support

Inspired by Simon? There are so many ways you can fundraise for Catalyst Support… whether it’s a run, walk, bake sale, quiz night, workplace challenge, or something completely unique.

Mental Health Awareness Week (11–17 May 2026) is about more than awareness… it’s about taking action.

Even though conversations around mental health are becoming more common, stigma and harmful misconceptions still exist every day.

“You don’t look anxious.”
“Everyone’s struggling these days.”
“They just want attention.”
“People need to toughen up.”

These comments may seem small, but they can stop people from speaking up, asking for help, or feeling understood.

The truth is:

🧠 Mental health challenges can affect anyone
🧠 Many people struggle silently
🧠 Supportive conversations can make a real difference
🧠 Asking for help is never a weakness

This week, let’s challenge the myths, educate ourselves, and create spaces where people feel safe to talk openly about mental health.

💚 Support is available in Surrey. Reach out today to learn more about the support we offer, or share this post with someone who might find it helpful.

Looking for support with OCD? 💬

We’re offering a structured bi-weekly group for people experiencing mild to moderate OCD (no formal diagnosis needed).

This is a safe and supportive space to share experiences, talk about how OCD impacts daily life, and explore practical ways to manage challenges.

Each session focuses on a different topic around living with and managing OCD, helping you build understanding, coping strategies, and confidence over time. Sessions are guided but also shaped by the needs and experiences of the group.
