🌳🚶‍♀️ Fresh air, exercise and plenty of smiles! 😊

Fresh air and keeping active is important to us all here at Next Step, and we love getting out and about to our local parks. 🌿

Whether it’s going for a walk, having fun on the playground or trying out the outdoor gym equipment, there are lots of ways to get moving! 💪🎠

And the best part? We’re always doing it with a smile! 😁 Every bit of movement counts, and we love keeping active together. ❤️

🍦☀️ Manifesting sunshine and warmer days! ☀️🍦

We’re definitely ready for some more sunshine and warmer days so we can get back to enjoying plenty of ice cream adventures! 😋

Here are some pictures from recent trips to The Wolseley Centre and the National Space Centre, where we treated ourselves to some yummy ice creams. 🍦🚀🌳

But it’s not just about enjoying the ice cream! These outings give our members the opportunity to choose what they want, place their order and pay for it themselves — all valuable opportunities to practise independence and develop important life skills. 💪👏

And of course, the best part is enjoying our tasty treats with friends! ❤️🍦

👩‍🍳🔥 Ready, Steady, Cook! 🔥👨‍🍳

Last week we took on a fantastic Challenge Day! Each pair received a mystery bag of ingredients and had to use their creativity to turn them into something delicious. 🛍️🍴

Our first team created puff pastry cheese and tomato bites, while others made delicious nachos with homemade salsa. 🌮🍅

For pudding, we had some tasty treats too, with cupcakes and Rice Krispie cakes being created by different teams. 🧁🍫

What a fantastic challenge! Everything was tasted, enjoyed and, most importantly, everyone worked brilliantly together. 🙌

Teamwork really does make the dream work! 💪❤️

🐦🦋 Our sensory garden is always a hive of activity! 🌿

With the ever-changing British weather, we make sure our bird feeders and water baths are kept topped up for all our garden visitors. 💧🐦

Last week we made some new fat balls for the feeders and topped up the water, ready for our feathered friends. 🥰

We love watching the wildlife that visits us, from beautiful butterflies and busy insects in our Bug Hotel to the birds flying in for a tasty snack! 🐞🦋🐦

There’s always something to spot in our sensory garden! 🌱💚

💙 Life Skills & Teamwork at Next Step 💙

Here at Next Step, we love supporting our members to develop valuable life skills — and they love getting involved and helping with some of the jobs that need doing around the church! 🧹🪣🌱

We work together as a team to complete our daily tasks, from making drinks for everyone ☕, washing and drying up, emptying the bins and sweeping the floors, to watering the plants. 🌿

Everyone plays their part, building confidence, independence and a sense of responsibility along the way. 🙌

We make a fantastic team, and by working together we help to make sure the rooms we use are clean, tidy and safe for everyone. 💙

It's not just about the big adventures — the everyday tasks are important too! 🌟

🔎 Who doesn't love a game of I-Spy? 🌳🐿️

Even better when you can enjoy some fresh air, explore somewhere new and get up close to nature! 🍃

Last week we had a lovely time exploring Willenhall Memorial Park, playing I-Spy as we discovered our surroundings. We also enjoyed getting closer to nature by feeding the birds and squirrels. 🐦🐿️

Another lovely day filled with fresh air, fun, exploration and plenty of smiles! 💚😊

🎉 12 YEARS OF NEXT STEP WEST MIDLANDS! 🎉

Today we celebrate 12 amazing years of Next Step West Midlands! 💙

On 4th September 2014, Next Step opened its doors and welcomed our very first members. What a fantastic journey it has been since then! 🥳

We have grown so much from those early days, but one thing has never changed — our mission. 💙 To support individuals with disabilities to maintain their independence, develop vital life skills, and have the same experiences and opportunities as everyone else.

Over the years, we have shared so many incredible experiences, enjoyed countless adventures and created memories that will last a lifetime. From days out and holidays to cooking, gardening, discos, sports and everything in between, our varied, person-centred programme ensures there is something for everyone. 🌟

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported Next Step, worked alongside us, volunteered, donated, encouraged us and, most importantly, been part of our journey. We couldn't have done it without you! 💙

Here's to 12 years of fun, friendship, independence and making memories — and to many more fantastic times ahead! 🥂🎉

🌩️🔥 BBQ Fun… Whatever the Weather! 🔥🌩️

We absolutely love a BBQ here at Next Step, but the great British weather decided to throw a thunderstorm our way! ⛈️😂

That wasn’t going to stop us from creating an amazing feast together! We all worked hard preparing our marinated spicy chicken thighs, burgers and sausages, along with some delicious homemade coleslaw and fresh homegrown tomatoes from our sensory garden. 🍅🥗

Unfortunately, the BBQ had to stay undercover and the oven came to the rescue! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳🔥 But that certainly didn’t stop us enjoying our delicious feast.

There’s nothing better than sitting down together and enjoying the food we’ve worked hard to prepare. 😋❤️

🍓🍌 Smoothie Time at Next Step! 🍓🍌

Fruit smoothies are always a hit here at Next Step and a fantastic way to get some of our 5 a day! 🌈🍎

Recently, we used some of the delicious fruit from our very own sensory garden, mixed with fruit we picked up from the shops, and blitzed it all together to make some tasty smoothies. 🥤😋

A lovely, refreshing and healthy afternoon treat that went down a storm! 💚

🌿 A Visit to The Wolseley Centre 🌿

Last week we enjoyed a lovely visit to The Wolseley Centre. Despite the recent wet weather, we donned our jackets, pulled on our sturdy shoes and headed out to enjoy some fresh air and explore! 🌦️🥾

It was wonderful spending time with our friends, exploring the riverside walks and beautiful wildflower meadows. Along the way, we spotted lots of different wildlife and plants and enjoyed taking in the peaceful surroundings. 🦋🌸🌳

A lovely day enjoying nature, fresh air and good company! 💚
