With all this hot weather we are experiencing we thought it would be helpful to share some information on keeping cool.

PLAN AHEAD - Check the weather forecast. Plan ahead to avoid being out in the heat. Schedule activities to cooler times of the day where possible.
KEEP YOURSELF COOL - Drink plenty of fluids and avoid excessive alcohol. Wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. Cool your skin with water and slow down.
FIND SOMEWHERE COOL - Close blinds and curtains during the day. Go indoors or outdoors, whichever is cooler. Avoid closed spaces like stationary cars.
BE SAFE - Be on the lookout for signs of heat related illness. Look after yourself and check in with others. Stay safe when swimming. Get help. Call NHS 111 or in an emergency 999.
For more information, please visit gov.uk/ukhsa/beat-the-heat

Breastfed babies do not need water, just offer more breastfeeds.
Formula fed babies can have small sips of cooled boiled water between milk feeds if needed.

For more advice on keeping your baby cool, you can contact your health visiting team by calling 01905 520032.
For infant feeding support, please call the National Breastfeeding Helpline on 0300 100 0212 or email us on [email protected]
