3 small heating tweaks that could save you £100+ before winter hits ❄️👇

With the colder weather settling in across the area, turning the thermostat up is tempting. But before you do, these three quick checks will keep your home warmer without sending your bills through the roof:

1️⃣ Turn down your combi boiler flow temperature
Most condensing boilers are factory-set to 70°C–80°C, which prevents them from operating in their most efficient condensing mode. Lowering the central heating flow temp to 55°C–60°C can cut gas usage by up to 8–10% without making your house feel colder.

2️⃣ Check radiator balance & bleed out trapped air
Cold at the top, hot at the bottom? Trapped air forces your heating to work twice as hard to reach temperature. A 2-minute bleed releases that air and restores full heat output immediately.

3️⃣ Audit your TRVs (Thermostatic Radiator Valves)
Setting every room to 5 is a quick way to burn cash. Set bedrooms to 2 or 3 (around 18°C) and unused rooms to 1. Only keep your main living spaces at 3 or 4.

💡 Bonus Commercial / Landlord Tip:
If you run a commercial unit, office, or rental property, switching outdated fluorescent battens to modern motion-sensored LED panels typically slashes lighting overheads by up to 60–70% instantly.
