It was our great pleasure to welcome Dr. Liane Siu Slaughter on 5 June 2026, and today to host Ms. Nadine Anderson, Founder of the International School of Mindfulness, at our Jordan UCN Clinic and South Asian Health Support Programme (SAHP) office this afternoon.

As a gesture of appreciation, we were delighted to present both Dr. Liane Siu Slaughter and Ms. Nadine Anderson with a limited‑edition UCN cup, honouring them as Friends of UCN.

Hong Kong has reported 20 dengue fever (DF) cases so far this year (as of May 29) — 19 imported and one local. With temperatures climbing and humidity rising, conditions have become highly favourable for mosquitoes, the carriers of dengue fever.

Today, Rinzin conducted a quick refresher session on dengue fever prevention with ethnic minority residents in the Sham Shui Po district, reinforcing practical steps everyone can take to stay protected.

To safeguard yourself, your family, and the wider community, members of the public are reminded to adopt simple but essential measures to prevent mosquito bites and stop mosquito breeding — both in Hong Kong and when travelling to areas affected by mosquito‑borne diseases.

Key Prevention Tips:
Remove stagnant water — Clear containers, flowerpot trays, buckets, and drains to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
Use insect repellent — Choose repellents containing DEET.
Wear protective clothing — Long sleeves and long trousers offer added protection.
Install or repair window screens — Keep mosquitoes from entering your home.
Stay vigilant when travelling — Use repellents, sleep under mosquito nets, and avoid areas with heavy mosquito presence in dengue‑affected regions.

Incubation Period

Clinical Features

Management
Isolation and supportive care
Rehydration (oral or IV)
FDA‑approved treatments for Zaire virus: Inmazeb, Ebanga

Introductory Mindfulness Workshop for Ethnic Minority Residents at LINK Centre, Kwai Hing

Rinzin conducted a introductory workshop on Mindfulness for ethnic minority residents of Kwai Chung at the LINK Centre, Kwai Hing.

The session introduced participants to the meaning of mindfulness, why it is an essential form of brain training for staying in present moment, and how regular practice can support stress reduction, improve mood, enhance focus, strengthen the immune system, promote better sleep quality, and nurture healthier interpersonal relationships.

Participants were also guided through a Body Scan mindfulness exercise, allowing them to experience mindful awareness in a practical and accessible way.

It was a fruitful and engaging session, with participants showing genuine interest and openness to learning.
More workshops on mindfulness will continue as part of ongoing community well‑being initiatives.

• Practical ways to reduce hidden fats in ingredients, cooking methods, sauces, and eating habits
• How small, consistent changes can protect heart health and lower diabetes risk

UCN set up a dedicated health‑screening booth at Mission for Migrant workers (MFMW) Give Care to Our Caregivers service fair in Chater Road, Central on 10 May, 2026.

We were inspired to see many NGOs coming together, each offering their own services—from wellness support to financial literacy, community resources, and more. The entire street felt like a celebration of compassion, solidarity, and shared humanity.

It was truly an amazing day—a day to care for the migrant workers who tirelessly care for us and our families. Their strength, resilience, and contributions deserve recognition, respect, and continuous support.

Rinzin expressed heartfelt thanks to the Mission for Migrant Workers (MFMW) for inviting the UCN team to conduct health screenings and for their kind assistance throughout the event.
