Excited to introduce our esteemed Editorial Board member, dr Vedrana Vejzovic!

Vedrana Vejzovic, PhD, RN, is an Associate Professor in Care Science at Malmö University, Sweden.

With a rich academic background including a Doctorate in Caring Science and extensive experience in pediatric nursing, Vedrana has contributed significantly to research, education, and clinical practice.

Since 2016, she has been a senior lecturer at Malmö University and currently serves as Chair of the Education and Scientific Committee at the European Specialist Nurses Organization (ESNO). Her research focuses on digital education in nursing, pediatric care, and patient experiences, supported by over 14 million SEK in research funding.

Vedrana has supervised numerous students and published extensively in her field, earning recognition for her impactful work.

Healthcare systems across Europe are under increasing pressure — shortages of nurses, an aging workforce, and growing patient demands are pushing hospitals to the brink of sustainability.

The COVID-19 pandemic has further exposed system vulnerabilities and accelerated the need for systemic changes.

In Brussels, a two-day meeting and dialogue took place in the European Parliament in 2025, bringing together key stakeholders, decision-makers, and representatives from the healthcare sector with the aim of strengthening the European healthcare workforce and developing sustainable strategies for the future of care.

The focus was on improving working conditions, long-term planning, and enhancing the resilience of healthcare professionals as a key competency in an increasingly demanding system.

Meet dr Adriano Friganović!

Assistant Professor, RN, PhD, and Editor-in-Chief of the World of Health Journal, dr Friganović is a leading expert in critical care nursing with extensive experience at University Hospital Centre Zagreb and academic roles at the University of Applied Health Sciences Rijeka.

His impressive career includes awards for life support implementation, contributions to nursing education, and leadership roles such as President of the Croatian Nursing Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care and the European Specialist Nurses Organization.

Committed to advancing healthcare and education, dr Friganović continues to make a significant impact in critical care, research, and professional development worldwide.

Reflecting on an inspiring experience at the 8th ESNO Congress in Rome!

From June 4th to 6th, we had the privilege of participating in this prestigious event held at LINK University, where European nursing leaders gathered to shape the future of healthcare. Under the theme „Mutual Goals, Many Pathways“, the congress focused on advancing specialist practice, education, and policy across Europe.

It was truly motivating to engage in discussions on harmonising qualifications, fostering leadership, and promoting innovation – positioning specialist nurses at the heart of sustainable health systems and Europe's healthcare workforce of tomorrow.

A big thank you to everyone involved for their dedication and vision. Together, we are making strides toward a stronger, more unified healthcare future!
