RuralProof - Interreg Europe project is making real impact through learning, adaptation and continuous improvement.

From theory to practice โ€“ and back again. ๐Ÿ”„

How can development ideas become real change in rural areas?

It is a continuous process of understanding local needs, learning from other regions, adapting ideas to local realities and turning them into practical action. The experience gained along the way can then feed back into policy and future development.

This is at the heart of the RuralProof approach: connecting knowledge, local experience and action to develop solutions that respond to the specific challenges and opportunities of rural areas.

Because meaningful change does not happen in a straight line, it grows through learning, adaptation and continuous improvement.

Water resilience is becoming a defining challenge for Europe โ€“from extreme rainfall to prolonged droughts, cities are adapting to a rapidly changing reality.

Cities responding to the EUI Forward-Looking Survey ranked water management among their top priorities โ€“ confirming the urgency is real.

The EU Water Resilience Strategy sets a direction towards building a Europe that is better prepared for floods, droughts, and water scarcity, while also strengthening competitiveness and fostering innovation.

In this, cities are at the centre of this transformation and the ๐—˜๐—จ๐—œ ๐—™๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฃ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜† ๐—Ÿ๐—ฎ๐—ฏ ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ is where this shift becomes practice:

๐ŸŽ‡ NWRA were delighted to attend the official launch of An Binse Cliste โ€“ The Smart Bench at Glenveagh National Park as part of Heritage Week. ๐ŸŒฟ

This innovative project brings together technology, research, design and environmental awareness to create new ways for visitors to connect with and understand our natural environment.

The Smart Bench uses embedded sensors to capture data on bird activity, air quality and dark skies, with an accompanying app enabling visitors to explore the data and learn more about the environment around them.

It was fantastic to see the collaboration between Atlantic Technological University, Wisar Lab & Technology Gateway, Data2Sustain, Donegal County Council, the National Parks and Wildlife Service and wider partners come to life at Glenveagh.

The launch at Glenveagh marked an important milestone for the project, with the another Smart Bench installed at Fort Dunree, Co. Donegal on Friday and Connemara National Park in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this exciting project from concept to reality. We look forward to seeing how An Binse Cliste continues to inspire visitors to Sit, Connect & Discover. ๐ŸŒฑ
