🍪☕ Our latest "Bake with Ann" at Castleross Nursing Home - in Killanny House

This time, Ann baked some delicious homemade shortbread biscuits, and each resident had the opportunity to decorate their own creations before enjoying them with a well-earned cup of tea or coffee.

As always, the activity sparked plenty of conversation, with residents sharing memories of favourite baked treats, family recipes, and traditional baking methods from years gone by. These reminiscence moments are just as enjoyable as the baking itself, bringing back happy memories and encouraging social connection.

At Castleross Nursing Home, we love creating opportunities for residents to continue enjoying familiar hobbies and traditions in a warm and welcoming environment.

🍋☕ Bake with Ann at Castleross Nursing Home, Carrickmacross ☕🍋

Many of our residents enjoyed baking long before coming to live with us, and we love keeping those treasured traditions alive through our regular "Bake with Ann" activity sessions.

These lovely photos are from Lisdoonan House, where last week Residents baked one of the favourites here at Castleross Nursing Home – delicious homemade shortbread biscuits with a hint of lemon. The biscuits were beautifully decorated and, of course, enjoyed together over a relaxing cup of tea or coffee and plenty of good conversation.🥰

Activities like these bring back wonderful memories, encourage social interaction, and create opportunities for residents to continue enjoying the hobbies they have always loved.🥰

Some lovely photos from Orlaith’s recent visit to Castleross Nursing Home 🎶

Residents thoroughly enjoyed listening to beautiful songs from “My Fair Lady,” with plenty of smiles, singing along, and special memories shared throughout the afternoon. Dolores especially loved every minute of the performance as did our 104 year old Dympna - first photo 🥰

A huge thank you to Orlaith for bringing such warmth, music, and happiness to our home. Moments like these are truly treasured by everyone. ❤️

A lovely visit from Orlaith recently at Castleross as she performed beautiful songs from the musical and movie “My Fair Lady” 🎶

As you can see from these videos, Dolores absolutely loves the musical and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Seeing residents singing along, smiling, and connecting with music they know so well is always so special. ❤️

A huge thank you to Orlaith for such a wonderful performance and for bringing so much joy to everyone. 🌸

Our Castleross Nursing Home Residents were proudly decked out in blue and white last weekend as they gathered to support the Monaghan GAA team in their match against Armagh 🏐💙🤍

Flags were waving, cheers were loud, and the excitement was high as everyone got behind the Farney men👏 Although it wasn’t to be Monaghan’s day this time, with Armagh coming away victorious, the result certainly didn’t dampen the spirits in Castleross Nursing Home😊

There was great fun, wonderful camaraderie, and plenty of GAA chat throughout the day — proving once again that it’s all about enjoying the occasion together ❤️

Well done to both teams on a great game! 💪🏐

🌞🚌 Our Castleross Nursing Home, Carrickmacross, first bus trips of the summer took place last week on Tuesday 11th May & Thursday 13th May — and what beautiful days they were 🌊

Our adventurous Residents enjoyed wonderful outings to Port Oriel Coastal Drive with Creevy House and the stunning Cooley Peninsula with Broomfield House 🚌

Before each trip, our Residents and our fabulous bus driver, Peter, decide together where they would like to go — making every outing extra special 🗺️😊

The weather was absolutely beautiful on both days and everyone had a fantastic time, especially our amazing Resident Dympna, who is 104 years young 🎉 (Photo 2) and is always ready for an adventure ❤️

We are already looking forward to the next trips as Lisdoonan House & Killanny House prepare for their first summer Bus outings 🚌☀️

There was plenty of creativity and teamwork around our Castleross Nursing Home in the last weeks 🌸🎨

Some of our lovely ladies enjoyed a relaxing flower arranging session in the coffee shop, creating beautiful arrangements for both the coffee shop and the oratory. A big thank you to Samantha, who made the afternoon extra special with tea, coffee, delicious treats from our kitchen, and music playing on the record player — such a lovely atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. 💐☕

Also hard at work recently were Amy (Activities Coordinator) and Gabrielle (Resident), who spent some time brightening up a board that had gone unused. With a splash of paint and plenty of creativity, the board is getting a whole new lease of life and will be used for another exciting project in Lisdoonan House in the coming weeks.

Well done to everyone involved for bringing so much colour, creativity, and community spirit to the home! 💛

What a fantastic weekend of sport last weekend enjoyed by us all here in Castleross Nursing Home 🟢⚪

Our residents were full of excitement as they gathered to watch their beloved County Monaghan GAA team take on Derry in a thrilling Ulster semi-final clash.

It was a dramatic and high-scoring encounter, with Monaghan emerging victorious on a scoreline of 1-30 to 3-23. The atmosphere in the home was electric, with great cheers, conversation, and plenty of proud GAA supporters enjoying every minute of the action.

A wonderful afternoon shared together, celebrating community spirit, county pride, and the joy of sport.

Congratulations to Monaghan GAA on a superb win, and best of luck in the next stage of the championship 🟢⚪🏐
