☀️ VITAMIN D – MUCH MORE THAN JUST THE SUNSHINE VITAMIN!
Vitamin D is technically a prohormone or steroid hormone precursor and plays an essential role in our overall wellbeing, influencing bone health, muscle strength, immune function, calcium absorption and mood.
For women approaching or going through menopause, maintaining adequate vitamin D levels is particularly important because of its contribution to bone density and muscle health.
But there is another important aspect we should not overlook: one vitamin D level does not necessarily suit everyone.
People living with different chronic health conditions may have different vitamin D needs and individual target levels. Their health status, absorption, metabolism and other factors can all influence what is appropriate for them.
This is why testing and understanding your own vitamin D status is so important, rather than simply taking a standard supplement dose and assuming it is enough.
I came across this interesting infographic shared by Wild Atlantic Health (Wild Atlantic Health), highlighting research into vitamin D levels and their relationship with different health conditions. They also offer home kit test for vitamin D
Don't just guess your vitamin D levels. Know them. Understand them. Take an informed approach to your health. 💚
Thank you Wild Atlantic Health for sharing this information.
