🌞 Not all summer headaches are dehydration. Here is the practical triage in four slides.

β€’ Dehydration headaches typically resolve within an hour of adequate water and rest.
β€’ Tension-type headaches feel like a band and often relate to screen time, sleep, and posture.
β€’ Cervicogenic headaches start from the neck and radiate up. Both may respond to osteopathy.
β€’ If a headache reaches maximum intensity in seconds to a minute, if you have fever with a stiff neck, if there are sudden neurological changes, if this is the worst headache of your life, seek urgent help. Time matters in those situations.

🀱Your baby's first year. A gentle guide to the milestones.

The first year of a baby's life is a wide range of normal. Some babies sit at 5 months, some at 8. Some crawl before they walk, some skip crawling entirely. What matters is not hitting each milestone on a schedule, it is the overall trajectory.

What we watch for as osteopaths who work with families:
πŸ”΄ Strong preference for one side (persistent turning to one side)
πŸ”΄ Flat spot on one side of the head)
πŸ”΄ Difficulty with tummy time despite consistent practice
πŸ”΄ Feeding-related asymmetries
πŸ”΄ Missed milestones by 2 to 3 months beyond the typical range
πŸ”΄ Tongue tie

If you notice any of these, your public health nurse and GP are the first stop.

A gentle paediatric osteopathy assessment, working with your doctor, never instead of. We look at how your baby moves and rests, and where it’s relevant:
βœ… Posture
βœ… Movement symmetry
βœ… Cranial shape
βœ… Feeding mechanics

3 gentle moves to release tension and pain in the lower back if you are pregnant. Gentle, breath-led, safe from most trimesters.

πŸ”΄ When to do them. As part of a daily 5 minute routine, or when the back seizes after sitting too long.

πŸ”΄ When NOT to do them. If you have placenta previa, active bleeding, symptoms of pre-eclampsia (severe headaches, vision changes, swelling), or if your midwife has asked you to avoid this type of movement.

βœ… Always check with your maternity team first. If the pain is severe, one-sided, or worsening, that is a maternity call, not a movement one.

If the pattern is just cumulative tension from a growing bump, save this and try.

Save. Share with a pregnant friend.

Not glamorous. Effective. The five things we say most before summer holidays:
1️⃣ First, hydrate consistently.
2️⃣ Second, move every 60 to 90 minutes on flights and long drives, ankle circles and standing walks count.
3️⃣ Third, protect fresh scars from sun (they pigment permanently).
4️⃣ Fourth, do not abandon your sleep window entirely, even on holiday.
5️⃣ Fifth, walk 30 minutes daily, the highest-yield movement for spine and mood.

The pattern I see every August is people coming back with lower back stiffness from long flights, sacroiliac issues from sleeping on different surfaces, and feet that hurt more than they did on holidays.

Not a crisis. Just worth an assessment.
