Fun fact a lot of the items we buy based on price and not purpose are the ones we rarely if ever wear or use!

If you check your wardrobe now, how many items were "bargain buys" with the tags still on??

We can all be hoodwincked into believing that sale items will add value to our lives. In reality, they often just create clutter.

If this sounds like you, guess how you have been hoodwinked?

Items on sale often have red stickers. Why? Because psychologically we have been programmed that red means stop. We know to stop driving when we come to a red traffic light. Stop signs on the road are in red.

So when we see overhead sale banners and signs, it signals stop in our minds. Plus we all like to get a bargain.

However, just remind yourself that if you are buying purely on price and not purpose, it will most likely become clutter!

Hope you a great clutter free day!

Clutter has been scientifically proven to negatively affect women's mental health and wellbeing!

Why?

Not being able to find what we need when we need it, can cause unnecessary stress and anxiety.

Decision fatigue from having so many options but none of them quite work.

Feeling overwhelmed by the responsibilities of owning so much stuff.

Our sense of self identity gets lost in the amount of stuff we own, a lot of which does not truely represent our true self.

Extra storage is not the answer!

Decluttering is!

Decluttering and donating away what no longer serves us, represents our true selves or no longer suits the current season of our lives is the answer!

Does this resonate?

Such a gorgeous sunny morning! It finally feels like Summer is arriving 🥰

On days like this, a day trip sounds like a fantastic idea. But where to go and what to do?

Today's Saturday Sorting is about making our bucket list of trips for the Summer. Making a list now will reduce decision fatigue on those sunny days where you fancy a road trip or outing!

My list so far includes:
Beyond the Trees, Avondale
Botanical Gardens
Howth Cliff Cruise
Glendalough
Killiney Hill
Bohernabreena Reservoir
Greenan Maze

Any other suggestions? Whats on your list? 🤗

The Paradox of Purchasing!

In a world where we have so much, too much, so we have to buy more!

Cant find your tweezers - have to buy another one!
Cant find a scissors- have to buy another one!
Cant find the Cellotape- have to buy another one!
Cant find a measuring tape - have to buy another one!
Cant find a stapler- have to buy another one!

And now we are responsible for even more stuff!

Let's create simple storage solutions to get ourselves organised!

Create a storage area for these items.

A washed out candle jar for tweezers and scissors.
A stationery drawer for Cellotape and staplers.
A DIY box for measuring tapes.

Is there any other duplicates I have forgotten????

So excited to be heading back to Carlow Library next Tuesday. In a highly requested workshop, we will be looking at the emotional attachment to our clothes. The ones we might lose weight to fit back into? What to do with bargain buys never worn? Examining do our clothes work for the current season of our lives? Places are filling up fast 😍

For the love of above and all things holy, who decided we need 3 drawer bedside lockers in our lives? 🤪

At what point in time was that decided and by whom?

They are in almost every home I have ever worked in over the past 10 years and the situ is always the same.

Top drawer = broken jewellery, one earring, cough sweets, half sucked cough sweets discarded in wrappers, packets of tissues, crumpled up tissues, random coins from holidays we barely remember, 100 pens, random bits of possibly useful items, leaflets, packets, tubs and tubes of  medicines and random bits of makeup we have forgotten about!

Second drawer = 50 notebooks, more pens, socks, possibly tights,

Third drawer = more of the above and then some!

The more space we have, the more the urge to fill it!

Do you own 3 drawer bedside lockers? What other clutter have I not already mentioned?

Happy Sunday folks!

This week I will be in Carlow Central Libray on Tuesday presenting my Decluttering and Organising for Wellness Workshop. On Thursday I am presenting my workshop for a private group. On top of that I have my private counselling and life coaching clients to see. Plus working for clients in their homes to help them declutter and organise their homes and home offices!
It is a busy week but I LOVE my work.

I am a big believer in how the little things we do on a Sunday can set us all up for a better week ahead! It really reduces decision fatigue plus planning now will definitely lower stress and anxiety.

Simple Decluttering and Organising tasks we can do..

👷‍♀️Fix 1 item that has been dancing on your last nerve!

🥘 Meal plan and batch cook for the week!

🖋Plan your week using a spidergram as a visual aid!

👗Plan outfits for the week to avoid decision fatigue!

🧽Declutter and Organise one small space!

🥳Mind yourself by moving slowly v multi tasking!

Random bits ... you dont know what they are, but they might be important!
