Active ingredients for pigmentation 💧

In part 4, Dr Rebecca talks through some of the active ingredients that can help target pigmentation, including:

✨ Hydroquinone
✨ Retinol / tretinoin
✨ Vitamin C
✨ Arbutin
✨ Kojic acid
✨ Licorice root
✨ Azelaic acid
✨ Niacinamide

Used appropriately, these ingredients can work in different ways to brighten the skin, improve the appearance of existing pigmentation and help reduce the likelihood of pigmentation returning.

The key is finding the right combination for your skin — and pairing your active ingredients with consistent, daily broad spectrum SPF 30+ ☀️🧴

Pigmentation is rarely treated with one product alone. A personalised routine, consistency and sun protection all play an important role. Stay tuned to see what treatments can help with pigmentation ⚡️

SPF 30+ is just the starting point ☀️

In part 3, Dr Rebecca talks about the additional features to look for when choosing your daily sunscreen:

🧴 Broad-spectrum protection — not just UVA and UVB, but protection that also considers visible/blue light and near-infrared radiation.

🎨 Tinted formulas — particularly those containing iron oxides, which can help provide protection against visible light, an important consideration for pigmentation-prone skin.

🏙️ Anti-pollution protection — helpful for protecting against environmental stressors and supporting a more comprehensive approach to skin ageing.

✨ Daily, consistent use is key. The right sunscreen can help protect against pigmentation while also supporting long-term skin health and anti-ageing.

The best SPF is the one you’ll use generously and consistently - so it’s worth the trial and error to fine the formulation that works best for you!

☀️ Sun protection matters

In part 2, Dr Rebecca explains why sun avoidance and consistent SPF use are so important when managing pigmentation.

☀️ Try to avoid prolonged direct sun exposure, particularly during peak hours
🧴 Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ to exposed areas
🔄 Reapply regularly, especially when outdoors, sweating or swimming
🧢 Use additional protection such as hats, sunglasses and shade where possible

When it comes to pigmentation, prevention is just as important as treatment. Protecting your skin from UV exposure can help prevent pigmentation from becoming darker and reduce the risk of new pigmentation developing.

♨️ Slight tingling, tightness or warmth (24 hours)
💫 Glow and dewy finish from our hydrating masks and nourishing recovery balms

Days 1–3
🪞Some people peel very little or not at all
✨ Your skin may already start to look brighter

Days 4–7
🍊 Peeling usually finishes
🧈 Skin often feels smoother and more even in texture
😍 Improvements in dullness will become noticeable

Aftercare
🫧 Use a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser.
💧 Apply a moisturiser regularly to help with dryness.
🧴 Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) every day, even if it’s cloudy.
❌ Avoid exfoliating products, retinoids and other acids for several days or until we advise it’s okay.
❌ Don’t pick or pull at peeling skin, as this can increase the risk of irritation or discoloration.

🧖‍♀️ Many people need a series of gentle peels every 4 weeks to see the best results for concerns like uneven acne, pigmentation, signs of ageing, open pores and dull skin

✅ You’re always going to get the best results with diligent at home skin care and following recommended treatment combinations
