Words matter.

Most of us would never tell someone with a broken leg to simply "walk it off."

Yet people living with depression are often met with phrases like:
• "Just cheer up."
• "Think positive."
• "Snap out of it."

While these comments are usually well-intentioned, they can leave someone feeling misunderstood or alone.

If someone opens up about how they're feeling, you don't need to have all the answers.

Sometimes the most helpful response is simply:
💛 "I'm here for you."
💛 "Do you want to talk?"
💛 "How can I support you?"

Kindness, patience and listening can make a real difference.
