A Journey from Critical Illness to a New Life — Healing Beyond Borders
A 12-year-old child from Uzbekistan, suffering from End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), came to us in a very critical condition. The child had severely elevated creatinine levels, was started on maintenance hemodialysis, and required ICU admission for stabilization before definitive treatment could be planned.
After a thorough evaluation and careful optimization by our multidisciplinary team, the child successfully underwent an Open Renal (Kidney) Transplant.
The transplanted kidney was connected to the recipient's blood vessels with meticulous surgical precision. Following restoration of blood flow, the graft showed excellent perfusion with immediate urine output, an encouraging sign of good initial kidney function.
Managing such high-risk pediatric transplant cases requires extensive experience, teamwork, and unwavering commitment. At the Max Institute of Urology, Robotics & Kidney Transplant, we have been caring for complex kidney failure patients and performing advanced transplant surgeries for many years, including for patients traveling from across the world.
Today, we celebrate another successful transplant and another young life given a renewed chance for a healthy future.
