District Hospital Singtam:

The Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) Meeting of District Hospital Singtam was held on 10 June 2026 at the Conference Hall of District Hospital Singtam.
The meeting was graced by Shri Balaram Adhikari, Honโble Zilla Adhakshya, Gangtok District in presence of Dr. Ashok Kumar Rai, Director-cum-Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Gangtok District; Dr. Raju Singh, District Medical Superintendent othe present were Shri Suresh Tamang, Councillor, Singtam Nagar Panchayat; Shri Ujjwal Pandey, MEO Singtam Nagar Panchayat; Smt. Rajani Singh Cintury, Councillor, Singtam Nagar Panchayat; Smt. Manika Gurung, Social Welfare Officer, Gangtok (WC&DD); Dr. Tshering Ongmu Bhutia, (DSO); Shri Shishir Kumar Tamang, CAO; Smt. Rohini Gurung, Under Secretary; Shri.Dharni D Mishra DPM; Smt. Kikila Lepcha, DPHNO; Smt. Pema D Sherpa AD Sanitation, Smt. Prasansamani Ruth Rai, DQC; Shri Binod Pradhan, Contractor; Smt. Srijana Lama; Shri K. L. Mintri of Om Himalayan; Shri Tara Chand Chettri, AE (Power Department); Shri Tseten Dorjee Bhutia, JE (PHE Department), along with doctors, nursing staff, pharmacists, IEC officials and other staff members of District Hospital Singtam.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Ashok Kumar Rai, Director-cum-CMO, Gangtok District. This was followed by a detailed presentation by Dr. Raju Singh, DMS, on the activities of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti, covering sources of RKS funds, expenditure details, proposals for the financial year 2026โ27, existing limitations, and future strategies.
A felicitation ceremony was also organized to honour individuals and stakeholders who have contributed towards the development and upliftment of District Hospital Singtam.
During the open house discussion, several important issues were deliberated upon, including water crisis management, power supply, blood donation initiatives, hospital infrastructure, and revenue generation. The Power Department informed that a dedicated power line has been provided to the hospital to ensure uninterrupted services.
The Social Welfare Department assured support in the form of assistive kits for persons with disabilities, establishment of a breastfeeding corner under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme, provision of sanitary pads, and support for organizing voluntary blood donation camps.
Stakeholders also suggested revenue-generating measures such as installation of an ATM within the hospital premises, development of private wards, and mobilization of support from various organizations and stakeholders in and around Singtam.
The meeting further emphasized the continuation of cleanliness drives in coordination with the Singtam Nagar Panchayat to maintain a healthy environment and strengthen dengue prevention efforts.
Addressing the gathering, Honโble Zilla Adhakshya Shri Balaram Adhikari stressed the importance of constructive criticism and self-criticism as tools for institutional growth and improved patient care. He highlighted the significance of community participation, resource mobilization, transparency, and accountability in strengthening healthcare services. He encouraged the hospital administration to approach companies, retired officials, and various organizations for support in procuring equipment and organizing blood donation camps. He also emphasized timely completion of land registration for PHSCs and effective power management within the hospital.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Rai, Director-cum-CMO, also requested the concerned authorities for deployment of additional security personnel at the hospital to enhance safety and security.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Smt. Prasansamani Ruth Rai, District Quality Consultant, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, stakeholders, and participants for their valuable contributions towards strengthening healthcare services at District Hospital Singtam.
