Robotic surgery deserves special mention considering immense advantages it offers both to the patient and surgeon. I feel as a doctor and surgeon in particular, the part which I play is a crucial one. I feel the pain of people's sufferings. I am fortunate enough to alleviate the pain and heath related miseries of people. As a doctor I believe empathy is the most crucial feature we need. We need to listen to people and understand their issues. At the same time, we need to be expedient, as in many cases it is a race against time. We as surgeons know this best. I always feel what would be my expectations if I sit on the other side of the table with my problems. We doctors should always remember that we are fortunate enough that we have the knowledge to help people when they need it most.

Some moments in a doctors life cannot be described in words. This child had a massive splenomegaly due to beta thalassemia. Repeated blood transfusions resulted in seropositivity. Many were hesitant to operate. We at Narayana Superspeciality Hospital formed a team and operated. The result was great. The gratitude in the family's eyes is the greatest reward we can achieve.
