🎭 Tantrum or Meltdown? Understanding the Difference in ADHD
Not every outburst is the same.
A tantrum is often driven by a desire to achieve something, while a meltdown happens when a child becomes overwhelmed and loses control of their emotions.
For children with ADHD, meltdowns can be triggered by:
🔹 Sensory overload
🔹 Sudden changes in routine
🔹 Frustration with tasks
🔹 Difficulty regulating emotions
As parents and caregivers, understanding the difference helps us respond with empathy rather than punishment.
💙 The goal is not to stop big emotions, but to help children feel safe, understood, and supported as they learn to manage them.
