Rare Neurological Disorder Successfully Treated at KIMS Kurnool

Doctors at KIMS Hospitals, Kurnool, successfully treated a 61-year-old man suffering from a rare and complex neurological condition caused by a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak.

According to Dr. N. Sumanth Kumar, Consultant Neurosurgeon, the patient had previously undergone two surgeries for recurrent blood clots over the brain surface. Despite treatment, his condition continued to worsen.

A detailed evaluation revealed a tear in the protective covering of the upper spinal cord, causing continuous leakage of cerebrospinal fluid. This led to cerebral hypotension, a rare and often difficult-to-diagnose condition that can result in serious neurological complications.

Following timely diagnosis and specialized treatment, the patient recovered successfully after a prolonged critical illness, highlighting the importance of advanced neurological expertise and comprehensive care.
