Does IVF egg retrieval reduce your egg reserve or cause early menopause?

It’s a common concern among women considering IVF, but understanding how your ovaries work can help ease this worry.

During a natural menstrual cycle, usually one follicle becomes dominant and releases an egg. Other follicles generally stop developing during that cycle. IVF stimulation helps multiple follicles grow, allowing more eggs to be retrieved.

Here’s what you should know:
• IVF stimulation helps multiple follicles develop in a single cycle.
• Egg retrieval does not mean all your eggs are being removed.
• Egg reserve naturally declines with age.
