👁️✨ Did you know that an eye exam can be a window into a newborn's systemic health?
Our latest case report, published in the *Journal of AAPOS*, highlights a rare clinical co-occurrence of Lipemia Retinalis and Kaufman Oculocerebrofacial Syndrome (KOS) in a neonate.

The infant presented with severe hypertriglyceridemia, which was discovered when an eye examination revealed grade 3 lipemia retinalis, characterized by creamy white retinal vessels. After being treated with a fat-restricted diet and oral fenofibrate, the infant's lipid levels normalized, leading to a complete recovery of the retinal vessels within just one month!

**The Takeaway:** Lipemia retinalis may be the first visible manifestation of severe neonatal hypertriglyceridemia, and careful ophthalmic examinations can facilitate early diagnosis and prompt management of potentially life-threatening metabolic abnormalities.
