Grateful to have been invited as faculty at ACRSICON 2026, Visakhapatnam—a wonderful opportunity to learn, teach, share, and grow together with leading national and international colorectal surgeons.

One of the major highlights was our 6-hour MRI Fistulogram Workshop at Pinnacle Hospital, co-conducted with Dr. Swati Shah.

A special thanks to Dr. Parvez Sheikh, my mentor, for his constant guidance and encouragement, and for giving me this opportunity.

With 25 participating surgeons, we focused on a very practical question:

Can a surgeon learn to read an MRI fistulogram independently and translate those findings into a better surgical plan?

The workshop focused on:

* DICOM-based MRI reading
* Understanding surgical anatomy on MRI
* Identifying complex fistula extensions and deep spaces
* Systematic fistula mapping
* Translating MRI findings into surgical strategy

One of the most encouraging outcomes was the improvement seen between the pre- and post-workshop assessments—approximately 76%.

I also had the privilege of moderating the opening “Meet the Experts: Fistula-in-Ano” panel discussion with respected experts including Dr. Gautam (USA), Dr. Carlo Ratto (Italy), Dr. Kamal Gupta, and Dr. Parvez Sheikh.

I also had the opportunity to deliver a lecture on “MRI in Proctology,” sharing my perspective on how imaging can help us better understand disease anatomy and plan our surgical approach.

But one moment made this conference particularly special for me.

During the Best Video Session, Dr. Roopa Bhushan from Bengaluru presented her experience with the PILTEC technique. She shared that she had learned the technique by watching my YouTube videos and had subsequently started applying it in her own clinical practice.

For a teacher, there are few things more satisfying than seeing knowledge travel beyond a lecture hall—from one surgeon to another, and ultimately towards better patient care.

That was a genuinely proud and emotional moment for me.

My sincere gratitude to Dr. Kushal Mittal, Dr. Prajesh Bhuta, Dr. Simhachalam, Dr. Murali, and the entire organising team for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this memorable conference.

ACRSICON 2026 reinforced something I strongly believe in:

When surgeons share what they know, knowledge travels beyond individuals—and ultimately, our patients benefit.
