There is a 17-day window in your pregnancy where one scan can tell you more about your baby’s health than any other test available.

Miss it — and that information is gone forever.

The NT/NB scan between 11 weeks 3 days and 13 weeks 6 days measures two completely separate things: the fluid at the back of your baby’s neck (Nuchal Translucency) and the presence of the nasal bone. Together with a blood test, this combined screening detects up to 87% of trisomy 21 cases in the first trimester.

30,000 children are born with Down syndrome in India every year. Most families were never screened.

This is not a routine check. This is a specialist assessment — and the accuracy of the measurement depends entirely on the experience of the radiologist performing it.

Swipe through to understand exactly what is measured, what the numbers mean, and why booking before week 14 is non-negotiable. 👉

You blamed the heat. The long hours. The long flight.

But a swollen leg that is only on one side — with warmth, redness, or calf pain — is never just tiredness.

Deep Vein Thrombosis forms silently inside your vein. No alarm. No warning. Until the clot breaks off and travels to your lungs.

30% of untreated DVT becomes a Pulmonary Embolism. That is a medical emergency that can be fatal within hours.

The good news: a Doppler ultrasound can diagnose DVT in under 20 minutes. No radiation. No needles. Just clarity — and the right next step.

Swipe through to see exactly what DVT looks like inside your vein, the 5 red flags you must not ignore, and when to get a Doppler scan done urgently. 👉

A bright spot on your baby’s heart scan is not just a finding.

It could be the first sign of a genetic condition that affects the brain, kidneys, and skin — and most parents are never told this.

Cardiac rhabdomyoma is the most common heart tumour found in unborn babies. In a study of 80 pregnancies, 60% of fetuses with this finding had Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC).

The heart tumour often disappears after birth. The brain consequences may not.

This is why your anomaly scan report needs to go beyond a one-liner — and why fetal brain MRI matters more than most people realise.

Swipe through to understand exactly what this finding means, what the research says, and what questions to ask your specialist. 👉

📌 Save this before your 20-week scan.

Fatty liver is the most common liver disease in India — and most people are completely unaware of what it’s silently doing to their body.

Grade 1 might feel harmless. But left unchecked, Grade 2 and Grade 3 fatty liver can progress to NASH, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and eventually liver failure — without a single symptom warning you.

The liver doesn’t hurt until it’s too late.

Swipe through to understand exactly what the grades mean, what red flags to look for on your ultrasound scan, and what a proper abdominal ultrasound report must include.

You see the heartbeat. 🫀
Your radiologist is silently checking 32 different things.

Most parents walk into their 20-week anomaly scan thinking it’s a routine appointment.

It’s not.

It’s a 30-minute, 32-point structural audit of your unborn baby — covering the brain, heart, spine, abdomen, face, limbs, and placenta.

One missed finding here can change a family’s entire birth plan.

This is why who does your scan matters more than where you get it done.

Swipe through to see exactly what your radiologist checks — and why a specialist makes all the difference. 👉

📌 Save this before your 20-week scan.

Trying to conceive but unsure about your ovulation timing?

One ovulation mistake can waste your entire cycle. A follicular study ultrasound helps track the growth of the dominant follicle, assess endometrial thickness, and identify the right fertile window more accurately than guessing through apps or calendar dates alone.

For women with irregular periods, PCOS, delayed cycles, or difficulty conceiving, follicular monitoring can give your doctor valuable information to plan in*******se, medications, or fertility treatment at the right time.

Ultrasound does not guarantee pregnancy, but it helps reduce guesswork and improves timing.

A fetal anomaly scan is not just about checking baby’s growth.

A structured fetal heart screening looks at multiple checkpoints: fetal situs, heart position, cardiac axis, rhythm, 4-chamber view, outflow tracts, 3-vessel view, and 3-vessel trachea view. The ISUOG fetal cardiac handbook highlights this step-by-step approach for fetal cardiac screening, including checks for stomach position, heart axis, rhythm, chamber symmetry, valves, outflow tracts, and great vessel arrangement.

The purpose is not to create fear.
The purpose is early clarity.

Early detection can help with better counselling, better referral, and better delivery planning when needed.

Stop fasting for every ultrasound.

Many patients come for scans weak, dizzy, and hungry because they think every ultrasound needs an empty stomach.

But usually, fasting is mainly needed for whole abdomen ultrasound, where it helps keep the gallbladder distended, reduces bowel gas, and improves visibility of abdominal organs.

For many other scans like pregnancy ultrasound, breast ultrasound, thyroid ultrasound, scrotal ultrasound, MSK ultrasound, and many Doppler studies, fasting is usually not required.

For pelvic ultrasound, a full bladder is often more important than fasting.

Before your next scan, ask:

“Do I really need fasting for this ultrasound?”

Heavy periods, severe cramps, pelvic pain, or repeated discomfort should not always be ignored as “normal period pain.”

Adenomyosis can sometimes be suspected on transvaginal ultrasound using MUSA sonographic features like myometrial cysts, hyperechoic islands, fan-shaped shadowing, and junctional zone irregularity.

Presence of multiple features can support the diagnosis and guide further clinical management.
