🏃🏃‍♂️Wireless sEMG shows what a stopwatch cannot.

Research shows EMG can help you identify two things about an athlete:

how loaded a muscle is, and how exposed that same muscle is to injury risk.
whether an athlete relies on reciprocal muscle activation or on coactivation at the hip and thigh, which tells you which technical intervention actually applies to that athlete.

This emerged from research by Yokota and Tamaki, who used Cometa wireless EMG sensors to measure muscle coordination in ten sprinters across a full 50m sprint. Biceps femoris activation in the final part of the swing phase, right before the foot lands, tracked closely with running speed. That same phase is where hamstring strain risk peaks during maximal sprinting. At the ankle, coordination between muscles was almost identical across all ten athletes. At the hip and thigh, it varied widely, even among athletes running the same times.
