Angiodroid

Angiodroid Angiodroid Srl is an Italian innovative Company that projects and trade solutions for the medical market. Angiodroid® The CO2 Injector is our main product.

Angiodroid SpA is a medical technology company specialized in vascular surgery, interventional radiology and interventional cardiology, dedicated to developing a new generation of automatic injectors for angiography using carbon dioxide as contrast agent. It is a Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Injector for Interventional Radiology procedures and represents the perfect solution for the treatment of patients

with:

• Diabetic Disease
• Renal Failure
• Intolerance to Iodinated contrast media

The use of CO2 in Peripheral Angiography has been common practice for many decades. To date, however, it has not the proper success due to the lack of advanced technology which could support operators during the procedures. Until now, the market solution was the use of manual injection kits (that means no procedural repeatability, no control of injection pressure and air contamination risk). Angiodroid® The CO2 Injector, whose main fields of application are Interventional Radiology & Vascular Surgery, is the perfect solution to all these problems and is the only injector:

• 100 % automatic
• 100 % safe
• 100 % digital
• 100 % user friendly

🍞 Is bread bad for your kidneys?

Not necessarily.

Carbohydrates do not directly damage the kidneys. However, regularly consuming large amounts of refined carbohydrates can contribute to blood sugar problems and increase the risk of type 2 diabetes—one of the main causes of chronic kidney disease.

The good news is that bread does not need to disappear from the table. What matters most is making informed choices:

🌾 Prefer whole-grain or wholemeal options

🔎 Check fiber, sodium and added sugar on the label

🍽️ Pay attention to portion size

🥗 Combine carbohydrates with vegetables, healthy fats or protein

🏃 Support healthy blood sugar through an active lifestyle

Swipe through our carousel to discover how small everyday choices can help support long-term kidney health.

For people living with diabetes or kidney disease, nutritional needs may vary. Always seek personalized advice from a doctor or registered dietitian.

It seems like only yesterday that our mystery journey began, but after many weeks, here we are again!

Where might this path be leading to...? 🛣️

We're approaching our destination, keep your eyes on the road in order not to miss any sign 👀

This time, Angiodroid took the center stage!

Connection is what turns colleagues into a team, ideas into shared projects, and professional relationships into lasting partnerships.

Our recent Summer Town Hall gave us the opportunity to experience this value in action: from the plenary session at Spazio Cesuola (with special guest star Marta Basso) to a lively cooking contest at ICOOK in Cesena, supported by Chef Matteo Milandri and Maffi Zacchi.

It was an afternoon of teamwork, creativity and fun, bringing together long-standing and new colleagues in a completely different setting. Some bonds were strengthened, some were created.

And in the end, we could taste our own "masterpieces" (hey, we did our best!), giving even more meaning to our efforts.

(Also, go to the last slide to find out who the winners were!)

Because sometimes the strongest connections are built outside the meeting room - while facing a challenge, sharing responsibilities and creating something together.

Discover how connection shapes our culture, both within Angiodroid and across the wider network of healthcare professionals, partners and collaborators we work with every day.

"Education, innovation, research, and friendship"

These are the four pillars of patient care, according to Dr. Emiliano Chisci, which can be found all around us; like at the Society for Vascular Surgery, where many presentations showed that:

🫧 Improved renal outcomes with CO₂-guided EVAR compared to iodinated contrast media at 2-year follow-up (with the standardized procedure Angiodroid + Philips Imaging)

🫧 Feasibility and safety of CO₂-guided FEVAR and BEVAR, with successful completion in 93% of cases without contrast administration.
..and much more!

A new just landed!

We are pleased to share a recent systematic review published by Dr. Federica Campana and Dr. Paolo Spath, evaluating the current evidence on CO₂ digital subtraction angiography during standard EVAR, with a focus on renal outcomes and procedural efficacy.

The review included 16 studies and 901 patients undergoing EVAR with CO₂-DSA. Among them, 622 procedures (69%) were performed with CO₂ only, without iodinated contrast medium.

Across the reviewed studies:
🫧 Renal artery visualisation: 53–100%
🫧 Hypogastric artery visualisation: 94–100%
🫧 Aortic bifurcation and common iliac arteries: detected in all reported cases

In the end, CO₂-DSA appears to be a promising alternative or adjunct to iodinated contrast in standard EVAR, with evidence suggesting potential benefits in renal function preservation and reduction of overall iodinated contrast volume.

Another important point highlighted in the review: all studies published since 2018 adopted an automatic injection system, with the Angiodroid injector used in all reported cases.

At Angiodroid, we are proud to support the evolution of automated CO₂ angiography and to contribute to kidney-safer imaging in endovascular procedures.

We're proud to highlight another successful collaboration at the University Clinical Centre of Serbia, where Dr. Igor Koncar and his team successfully completed three EVAR procedures using Angiodroid 💪

Every successful procedure is another step toward expanding access to safer, standardized CO₂ angiography and supporting physicians in delivering the best possible care to their patients.

A sincere thank you to:

🏥 University Clinical Centre of Serbia for their trust and collaboration.

👨‍⚕️ Dr. Igor Koncar for his expertise and commitment to innovation.

🤝 Antonio Vizzini, our Regional Sales Manager - Eastern Europe, for his continuous support and dedication in bringing Angiodroid technology to more hospitals across the region.

Together, we continue advancing kidney-safe endovascular imaging, one procedure at a time.

🎉 A major milestone for the KID Trial!

We are proud to share that the KID (Preventing Kidney Injury Using Carbon Dioxide) Trial has successfully reached its recruitment target of 174 participants, marking an important step forward in the generation of high-quality clinical evidence for CO₂ angiography.

The multicentre randomized controlled trial, led by Professor Athanasios (Thanos) Saratzis of the University of Leicester and conducted across six NHS vascular centres, is investigating whether CO₂ angiography can help reduce the risk of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with peripheral arterial disease and chronic kidney disease undergoing endovascular interventions.

Importantly, patients randomized to the intervention arm receive CO₂ delivered through the Angiodroid automated injector, enabling standardized and controlled CO₂ angiography during endovascular procedures.

Reaching the target of 174 recruited patients represents a significant achievement for all investigators, clinicians, research nurses, and participating centres involved in this ambitious study. The trial team has also received approval to continue recruitment beyond the original sample size to maximize data completeness and strengthen the final analysis.

As highlighted by the KID Trial team, the study is now on the cusp of delivering robust evidence on how best to protect vulnerable kidneys during endovascular procedures.

We congratulate all participating centres and look forward to the next phase of the trial and, ultimately, to the results that may help shape the future of kidney-protective endovascular care.
