Does your back tighten up halfway through a walk? 👀

One of the biggest things we focus on inside The WalkActive Method is helping the body stop “hanging” through the lower back while walking.

Many people unknowingly walk by collapsing into the spine and pulling themselves forward from the thighs instead of moving with proper stride flow and hip support.

That’s when walking starts feeling:

❌ heavy
❌ compressed
❌ tiring on the lower back

The WalkActive Method retrains your walking pattern so the body moves with better rhythm, posture and push-off — helping reduce unnecessary pressure travelling into the lower back with every step 🌿

Inside The WalkActive Club, you’ll learn these techniques step by step through guided Walk2TheBeat sessions, posture coaching and live support.

No pressure. No punishment workouts. Just smarter walking for real life.

Do your feet ever feel strangely tired after a walk… even when the rest of you feels okay? 👣

That little achey, heavy feeling often has less to do with your feet themselves — and more to do with how the whole body is moving above them.

When posture drops or the stride becomes a bit shuffly, the feet end up absorbing far more pressure than they’re designed to.

Over time, walking can start to feel harder, heavier and less comfortable than it should.

That’s exactly why The WalkActive Method focuses so much on posture, stride flow and walking efficiency — because the way your body moves changes the pressure travelling through your joints and feet with every single step
When alignment improves and stride becomes smoother, the workload starts spreading more evenly through the body again.

Inside The WalkActive Club, we gently retrain those walking patterns step by step through WalkActive coaching, guided Walk2TheBeat sessions and posture-focused support — helping you move with more comfort, confidence and ease.

No extremes.
No “pushing through.”
Just smarter walking that supports your body beautifully 💚

🚶‍♀️ WALKING WARM-UP TIP 🚶‍♀️

Yes, warming up matters.

But let's be honest — most of us don't want a 20-minute warm-up before a walk. We want to get out the door, feel good and enjoy the benefits of walking as quickly as possible.

That's why I always suggest focusing on the three areas that have the biggest impact on your walking:

✔️ Ankles
✔️ Hips
✔️ Thoracic spine

In this reel, I'm sharing a speedy version of one of our signature WalkActive drills — the Open Ankle Drill.

I encourage you to repeat it 3 times - and ask yourself these 3 questions. This will so help you build a positive relationship with your body and particularly valuable if you are walking as part of your wellness through menopause and longevity.

✨ First time:
"How is my body feeling today?"

✨ Second time:
"Ah, that's how my body is feeling today."

✨ Third time:
"This is how I'd like my body to feel today."

That final repetition is where the magic happens. Be expansive. Stand taller. Move with intention. Prepare your mind as much as your body as you create a physical memory of how you want your strude to feel.

Because a good walking warm-up isn't just about muscles and joints — it's about creating the movement patterns that help undo the effects of long hours sitting, driving, desk work and everyday life.

Inside the WalkActive Club, each month I guide you through simple, effective mobility sessions designed to help you walk better. Combine these with our Walk2TheBeat audio coaching and monthly plans and you'll have a clear, enjoyable path to walking consistently and getting results.

Because we don't tell you to walk more — we coach you to walk better through life. 🤙

3 small walking tweaks that can make a BIG difference

✅ Swing your arms a little faster
This improves walking rhythm far more effectively than trying to rush your feet.

✅ Keep your pelvis steady
Imagine balancing cups of water on your hips while you walk. Less wobbling = better posture and stronger stride support.

✅ Create space through the hips
A cramped stride often leads to heavy walking. More space through the hip joint helps movement feel smoother and more effortless.

These are the kinds of subtle technique changes we focus on inside The WalkActive Club 🌿

Because better walking isn’t about forcing speed — it’s about helping your body move more efficiently.

Feeling puffed out on warm-weather walks lately? ☀️

Before you blame the heat completely… try checking what your upper body is doing while you walk.

When we get hot or tired, many of us unconsciously slump forward a little and tighten through the shoulders.

The problem is, that posture makes breathing much shallower — so your body has to work harder for oxygen, even at an easy pace.

It’s one of the reasons summer walks can suddenly feel surprisingly draining.

Instead, try this gentle reset:

✨ Lift softly through your spine
✨ Relax your jaw and shoulders
✨ Let your arms swing a little more freely
✨ Give your ribs room to move as you breathe

Walking should leave you feeling refreshed — not completely wiped out. 🌿

And if you’d like a little guidance with posture, breathing, technique and building a smoother stride, that’s exactly what we focus on inside The WalkActive Club.

Think of it as expert support for every stage of your walking journey 👣💚

Ever notice how walking uphill suddenly feels much harder than it used to? 👀

It’s not always about getting older… and it’s not necessarily your fitness either.

Very often, the body has simply stopped using the right muscles efficiently.

When posture softens and the glutes become a little “sleepy,” the legs end up doing far more work than they should — especially on hills, stairs, or longer walks.

But just a few small walking technique adjustments can completely change that!

When your spine lifts, your push-off improves and your stride flows more smoothly, your body starts sharing the workload again instead of dumping it all into your knees and thighs.

That’s exactly what we work on inside The WalkActive Club 💚

You’ll find:

👣 Guided programmes
