DO WE CHOOSE DOGS WHO ALREADY RESONATE...
with something within us?

When you look at your dog…what do you recognise?
Did you choose them…or did something choose you both?

And have you ever felt that your dog understood how you were feeling before you'd said or done anything?

I'd LOVE to hear all about it 🤍

Our beautiful island home 💗

04/09/2026

I've deliberately left this one a little open.
Because I don't think we need to decide exactly what energy is before we can talk about it.

We all use the word.

“I like their energy.”
“That room had a strange energy.”
“I could feel something wasn't right.”

And our dogs seem to be extraordinarily sensitive to us.

They watch us.
They learn our patterns.
They respond to our emotions.
They share our environment.

So perhaps some of what we call energy has very tangible explanations.
And perhaps some of it is simply the word we use for a feeling or connection we can't quite put into words.

I'm fascinated by the question.
Not because I think I have the answer.
But because after years of watching dogs and their humans…

I'm not convinced we've finished asking the question 🤍

SO YOU CHOSE YOUR DOG...OR DID YOU?

Dogs are incredibly perceptive animals. So did you really chose them or is it worth being curious about the things we can't always neatly explain.

Which brings me to a word we're going to explore next…

ENERGY. ✨

What do we actually mean when we say we can feel someone's energy?
And could our dogs be responding to ours too?

But if you were you drawn to them, was it their personality? Their funny little habits? Their sensitive side? Or something else?

We'd all LOVE to hear your story...so please do comment below 🤍

WHAT'S THE BIGGEST THING...you and your dog have in common?

I've spent around 10 years working with dogs and their nutrition, and over that time I've noticed something repeatedly:

Sometimes the dog and their human seem to have far more in common than you'd expect.

Personality.

Behaviour.

Sensitivity.

Lifestyle.

And sometimes health patterns too.

I don't think it's as simple as saying, “your dog becomes like you.”

There are so many perfectly rational explanations.

We share an environment.

We share routines.

We influence one another.

And dogs are incredibly perceptive animals.

But I also think it's worth being curious about the things we can't always neatly explain.

Which brings me to a word we're going to explore next…

ENERGY. ✨

What do we actually mean when we say we can feel someone's energy?

And could our dogs be responding to ours too? Tell us your story...🤍

WHO DOESN'T LOVE, A TRUE LOVE STORY?

We’d all LOVE to hear YOUR story - so please do share that beautiful moment you knew they were YOUR dog.

WHEN DID YOU KNOW...they were YOUR dog?

Over the years, I've heard so many people say:
“I didn't choose my dog. My dog chose me.”

And when you listen to the stories, sometimes you can completely understand why.

There seems to be something about certain meetings that goes beyond the checklist we started with.

And then there's the other thing I've noticed over my years working with dogs…
Sometimes the dog and their human seem to mirror one another in ways that are surprisingly specific. I'll be exploring that with you over the next few posts.

But first, I want to hear YOUR stories.
How did you and your dog find each other?
And honestly…
who chose who? 🐾

I'd love to hear your story of when you knew...they were YOUR dog 🤍

What if your dog isn't the only one changing?

This week, we've explored something I'm really passionate about...

How the energy we bring into a moment can influence how that moment feels.

Hopefully somewhere along the way, you felt something.

So before we head into a new week, ask yourself -
What did I notice?

Because becoming curious about ourselves, and our dogs, is where the really interesting stuff begins...

If this made you stop and think, stay with me.

We've bearly scratched the surface...there is so much more of you and your dog to explore!

WHAT IF YOUR DOG KNOWS...how to slow you down?

We're so often focused on getting somewhere.

Walking further.
Getting our steps in.
Keeping our dogs moving.

But sometimes, the most valuable part of a walk is the moment we stop.

Let them sniff.
Let them choose the pace.

Put your phone away.
Take a few slow breaths.
And notice what's around you.

Then notice how 'you' feel.

Because sometimes we don't need to do more.

Sometimes we just need to create the space for something to shift.

Try this on your next walk and I'd LOVE to hear what you noticed 🤍

What if changing the sound around you could change the way a moment feels? 🎶

We often think of healing as something we have to 'do'.

But sometimes, I think it can be much simpler than that.

Sometimes it starts with changing what surrounds us.

Tonight, try this with your dog.

Put on some calming audio, sit together and simply 'be'.

No training.
No expectations.
Nothing to achieve.

Just 5–10 minutes of quiet connection.

Notice your own body.
Notice your dog's behaviour.
Notice the atmosphere around you.

And don't worry about whether it's “working”.

Just notice.

Because sometimes the most interesting things happen when we stop trying to make them happen. 🤍

Save this and try it tonight — then tell me what you noticed.
