A poem from the heart. 💜
Following her knee replacement surgery, our resident Mrs. Agnes Bonello celebrated her 89th birthday at Simblija Care Home. To express her gratitude for the care, kindness and support she received during her stay, she wrote this beautiful poem.
Today, we're honoured to share her heartfelt words:
My 89th Birthday at Simblija Care Home

"I spent my eighty-ninth birthday,
89 wonderful years,
At the beautiful and well-equipped
Simblija Care Home,
Following my knee replacement surgery.
I would like you all to know about my experience.
My arrival was warm and welcoming.
The lovely lady at the reception desk,
While taking my medical history,
Made me feel comfortable from the very beginning.
I was then taken to Ward 2,
Where I was welcomed
By the caring, professional nursing staff.
From that very moment,
The wonderful team at Simblija
Began looking after me with great care.
The senior nurses and carers
Attended to me promptly and with kindness.
The ward was bright, clean and comfortable,
Which immediately put me at ease.
The physiotherapists are simply wonderful.
They guided us through the right exercises.
The first day was very difficult,
But only a few days later,
I was walking and moving around again.
For lunch, I was wheeled to the dining room
By one of the carers,
Who was kind and smartly dressed.
The food was delicious, appetising and plentiful,
Prepared and served to the highest standard.
After finishing my main course,
It was time for dessert,
A lovely slice of fresh watermelon.
Then suddenly, "Happy Birthday" began to play,
And the staff arrived with a beautiful birthday cake.
The Activities Coordinator,
The bright, caring and bubbly Fiona Debattista,
Organised this thoughtful and lovely surprise.
She made my 89th birthday truly unforgettable,
And my stay at Simblija
Happy, caring and successful from beginning to end.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude
And wish continued success
To the founder of Simblija, Mr Angelo Xuereb,
To all the nurses, carers,
And to the wonderful kitchen team and chef.
