You silence to keep the peace.

After being misunderstood, criticised, or called “selfish” and “too sensitive” repeatedly, you may eventually stop explaining yourself. Staying quiet can feel easier than going through the same hurt again.

But underneath that distance, you may still love them deeply. You may still wish they could understand who you really are and how you truly feel.

You don’t have to lose your voice just to keep the peace. Therapy can help you understand these family patterns and learn to express yourself without abandoning yourself.

We can spend so much energy trying to fix someone, save them, make them understand us, or wait for them to change.

We explain more, give more and try harder.
And when nothing changes, we become exhausted, frustrated and disappointed.

But another person’s growth is not something we can control.

What we can work on is ourselves. Work on our emotions, thoughts, boundaries, choices, and how we respond.

When you stop putting all your energy into changing others and begin working on yourself, something starts to shift.

You may respond differently.
You may stop accepting what hurts you.
You may make different choices.
And slowly, the relationships and environment around you begin to change too.

Healing is not about changing everyone around you. Sometimes, it begins with changing how you show up for yourself.

Let’s be honest with yourself.

When you constantly need to rescue, fix or take responsibility for others, it is worth asking yourself if you really care for them or you feel needed by them.

Sometimes helping comes from genuine love and compassion.

Your kindness is valuable.
But your worth does not depend on how much others need you.

Reminder to yourself, learn to care for others without forgetting yourself.

If you grew up being blamed, you may have learned to automatically believe, “It must be your fault.”

Even when childhood is over, that belief can follow you into adulthood through guilt, self-blame, people-pleasing and fear of making mistakes.

What you learned about yourself in childhood does not have to define who you are today.

Are you still living from what happened to you?

Sometimes what looks like a “victim mindset” began as a way of surviving.

Repeated betrayal can become familiar.
Pain can become part of your identity.
Old thoughts can keep repeating.
And without realising it, you may give your power to what other people did to you.

Your past deserves to be acknowledged but it does not have to keep deciding your present.

Healing is also learning to ask:
“What is within my responsibility and power now?”

THE REASON WHY YOU THINK LIKE A VICTIM

A victim mindset doesn’t always mean someone is purposely blaming others or refusing to change.

Sometimes, it develops from the past experiences.

If you grew up feeling powerless, constantly criticised, controlled, invalidated, or had other people making decisions for you, you may have learned to think:

“I can’t do anything about it.”
“I don’t have a choice.”
“Things always happen to me.”
“I need someone else to help me.”

Over time, these can become familiar ways of thinking, feeling and responding even when your situation has changed.

What you learned in the past may no longer fit your life today.

The first step is simply to notice it and acknowledge it.

Share this with someone who may relate, and follow for Part 2.

Have you ever felt guilty simply for choosing yourself?

Sometimes we learn that being a “good person” means always being kind, helpful and available to others.

But kindness doesn’t require self-abandonment.

You can love others, disappoint them sometimes, say no and still be a good person.

Compassion includes you, too.

Caring for your parents and carrying your parents are not the same thing.

You can love them, support them and be there for them without becoming responsible for their emotions, happiness and every problem in their lives.

Healing does not mean abandoning your parents.

It means learning to love them without abandoning yourself.

If this pattern feels familiar, we can explore it together.

What if learning Reiki isn’t about becoming someone new but reconnecting with who you already are?

This is one of the foundations of how I teach Reiki.

Over the years, I have seen people come to learn Reiki for many different reasons. Some want to support themselves. Some want to help their family. Others simply feel curious and want to explore something deeper within themselves.

For me, Reiki is also about reconnection with the authentic self.

Life experiences, fear, expectations and the voices around us can influence how we see ourselves.
Sometimes, we become so occupied with surviving, achieving, pleasing or caring for others that we lose connection with our own inner ground.

Reiki offers a practice of slowing down, becoming present and reconnecting inwardly.

Not to become someone else.

But to reconnect with the qualities within ourselves that can become grounded, stable, confident, strong and deeply connected.

Your Reiki journey begins with you. đź©·

And it can become even more meaningful when shared with someone you love.
