The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Esq., has formally inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, charging members to embark on a disciplined, issue-based and peaceful campaign to secure renewed mandates for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all Plateau State APC candidates.
The inauguration, held on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the Government House Rayfield, brought together party leaders, political stakeholders and campaign coordinators, marks the commencement of a coordinated mobilisation effort for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as Governor Mutfwang, Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo and all APC candidates contesting National and State Assembly seats across Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang expressed appreciation to Plateau people for their support and confidence in his administration, saying the government had made progress in critical sectors while acknowledging that significant challenges remained.
He maintained that his administration deserved another term to consolidate ongoing projects and programmes, stressing that development was a continuous process that required consistency and sustained commitment.
“There is no government that ends everything. Every government is a relay. Our duty is not to make others look bad; it is to see how we can collectively make Plateau State look better,” the Governor said.
He urged members of the campaign council to take the message of the administration to every community across the state, expressing confidence that its achievements provided a basis for seeking the people's renewed mandate.
On security, Governor Mutfwang acknowledged the continuing challenges confronting the state but maintained that his administration was pursuing deliberate and sustained measures to protect lives and property.
He explained that addressing insecurity required coordinated efforts, professional expertise and patience rather than simplistic promises, assuring residents that his government remained committed to protecting every part of Plateau State.
The Governor disclosed that plans were underway to facilitate the return of internally displaced persons to their communities, adding that the state expected to commission another batch of retrained Operation Rainbow personnel and deploy at least 800 trained forest guards in the coming weeks to strengthen security in vulnerable communities.
He called on the people to remain patient and support the government's efforts to restore peace and enable displaced residents to return to their ancestral homes safely.
Addressing the economic challenges facing Nigerians, Governor Mutfwang acknowledged the hardship caused by ongoing economic adjustments but defended the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, arguing that the country needed time to recover from longstanding fiscal and structural challenges.
He cited improvements in foreign reserves and fuel availability as indicators of progress, while urging Nigerians to consider the circumstances the Federal Government inherited in 2023.
The Governor also highlighted measures introduced by his administration to cushion the effects of economic hardship in Plateau State, including the Tin City Metro buses, the revival of rail services within the metropolis, a 50 per cent reduction in tuition fees for students in state-owned tertiary institutions and increased student allowances by 300 percent.
He further noted the benefits of the Federal Government's student loan and scholarship interventions, which he said had provided financial support to Plateau indigenes studying in various universities.
On party unity, Governor Mutfwang called on APC candidates and stakeholders to bridge political divisions, demonstrate humility and work collectively towards the party's success at all levels.
He emphasised that electoral victories were determined at the grassroots, urging campaign council members to return to their wards, constituencies and local government areas to mobilise voters and communicate the party's message effectively.
“The votes are in the polling unit. They are not in Jos. Everybody can only matter in the locality where you come from,” he said, underscoring the importance of grassroots mobilisation and accountability.
The Governor also reiterated his commitment to peaceful political engagement, urging party members to conduct their campaigns with humility, honesty and respect for opposing political interests.
He maintained that the campaign must be anchored on constructive engagement and clear communication of the policies and programmes of the APC-led governments; expressing confidence that the efforts would deliver victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
The Governor further called on members to work together in pursuit of the party's objectives, expressing hope that the campaign would strengthen political cooperation and advance the development aspirations of Plateau State.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Mutfwang/Piyo 2027 Governorship Campaign Council, Sir Joseph N. Ari, KSM, KSS, OON, expressed gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for the confidence reposed in him and other members of the council.
