When you want something sugary, try choosing protein.

【Protein Leverage Effect】
•The protein leverage effect suggests that humans prioritize protein intake over other nutrients. If protein needs aren’t met, appetite remains unsatisfied, which can lead to overeating.

•By consuming enough protein, you can reduce cravings for sweets.

【How much should you take?】
Aim for about 1–1.5 g of protein per kg of body weight per day.
Example: If you weigh 60 kg → 60–90 g per day

Recommended foods
•1 egg → 4-6 g
•Greek yogurt (200 g) → 15–20 g
•Chicken breast (100 g) → 22–25 g
•1Canned tuna → 15–20 g

Iliopsoas muscle

・The only muscle that connects the upper and lower limbs.

・It is mainly composed of the psoas major and the iliacus (iliopsoas).

・It is a source of power for athletes.
・Compared to non-athletes, athletes show a particularly large difference in the muscle mass of the psoas major.

・The psoas major stabilizes the lumbar spine, but its action varies depending on the curvature of the spine.

「Origin and Insertion」

Psoas major
・Origin: T12–L4 vertebrae
・Insertion: Lesser trochanter of the femur

Iliacus
・Origin: Upper two-thirds of the iliac fossa (ilium)
・Insertion: Lesser trochanter of the femur

Actions
・Hip joint: flexion, abduction, external rotation
・Trunk: stabilization of the pelvis and lumbar spine

「Observation」
・The iliopsoas muscle uses elastic energy stored during its stretch in walking to help flex the hip joint. Therefore, the narrow-step walking pattern often seen in older adults may involve insufficient muscle extension, resulting in a lack of elastic energy and increased strain on the iliopsoas. Simply being mindful of how you walk may have a positive effect on the iliopsoas muscle.

・一般の人に比べてアスリートの方が大腰筋の筋量の差が特に大きい。

作用
股関節:屈曲、外転、外旋
体幹:骨盤、腰椎の安定

・大腰筋は腰椎を安定させるが、その作用は脊柱の湾曲度によって変化する。

「考察」
・腸腰筋は歩行の時は伸ばされた時の弾性エネルギーも使って、股関節を曲げるので、高齢者に見られる歩幅の狭い歩き方は伸びが足りず弾性エネルギーがなく、腸腰筋に負担がかかるらしい。歩くのを意識するだけでも、腸腰筋に良い影響を与えられそうな気がします。
