Long before I had babies of my own, I was checking newborns’ spines.
Recently, this little Buddha (Mr 😎 came to see me at just 4 weeks old to have his spine checked. This photo was taken on his third visit… and he basically slept through the whole thing. 🥹
Oh, how I love checking these squishy, adorable little humans.
Receiving this photo reminded me just how many beautiful photos I’ve been sent over the years of babies being checked after birth. So many tiny humans, so many new families, and so many special moments I’ve been lucky enough to be part of.
And I’m especially excited (and a little bit proud!) to say that five newborns are already booked in with me this week — including a set of twins who might already recognise my voice, considering I cared for their mama throughout her pregnancy. 🥰👶🏼👶🏼
From checking newborns since 2001 to still having the privilege of doing it today… what an honour that this part my job is.
That said, it’s important to check who is actually qualified to assess newborns and children before booking with just any chiropractor.
I became a CACCP-qualified chiropractor in 2010 and have completed specialised paediatric training through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). https://icpa4kids.com
You can check my paediatric credentials and find qualified practitioners near you here https://icpa4kids.com/find-a-pediatric-chiropractor/
I also get to see many complex paediatric cases that other local chiropractors refer to me, which is something I feel very honoured and proud to be trusted with.
A useful comparison is that all GPs may see babies, but paediatricians have additional specialised training in caring for children. The same principle applies in pregnancy chiropractic care. A chiropractor may say they specialise in pregnancy or use the Webster Technique, but it’s always worth checking their specific paediatric and pregnancy credentials, whether their training is current, and whether they are listed with the relevant professional organisations.
For Webster Technique providers, you can also check the official Webster Technique Directory see whether they have been awarded certification.
Photo 1: Mr B, 2026 🤍 — he initially came in because his parents had noticed that he preferred turning his head to one side.
Photo 2: Me with Mr M, who also first came to see me at 4 weeks old for a wellness check.
Photo 3: Me with Kick, 2009 — back when I straightened my hair every single day 😂 and was working in Castricum, in the north of the Netherlands.
Photo 4: Proud to have received this Certification in my 1st maternity leave- 16+ years ago. And….Shhhhh… another one might be on the way 🤫
More than two decades of caring for newborns — and the same love for these tiny humans. 🤍
