The end of summer can be a tough reset for everyone.
After weeks of looser schedules, later bedtimes, more screen time, and fewer chores, it’s completely normal for the back-to-school season to feel bumpy for parents and kids alike. Re-setting boundaries doesn’t mean getting everything perfect overnight.
What does help is easing back in with a few steady routines:
• Move bedtime earlier in small steps instead of all at once
• Set clear screen-time limits, especially in the hour before bed
• Make expectations for helping around the house simple and consistent
• Keep mornings and evenings predictable so kids know what to expect
• Pick one or two routines to focus on first, then build from there
A little structure goes a long way. Kids usually do best when limits are clear, screens are kept out of bedrooms and turned off before sleep, and routines are consistent enough to feel safe and manageable.
You don’t have to fix summer overnight — just gently guide the family back into rhythm, one step at a time.
Remember, Changes don't happen over night. The right pace is the one you and your family can sustain.
