👀 Can you spot the difference?
In both videos she’s doing the same exercise, but in one her shoulders are actually working and in the other she’s visibly compensating…
❌ Bottom video:
The shoulder blade rotates smoothly upward as the arm is raised, while the shoulders stay low and relaxed. This is where the serratus anterior plays a key role, working together with the lower traps to control the movement of the shoulder blade. This creates better shoulder mechanics, allows the delts to do their job more effectively, and reduces excessive load on the neck and upper traps.
✅ Top video:
The shoulders shrug up towards the ears during the movement. Instead of the shoulder blade rotating efficiently, the upper traps become dominant and take over the movement. This often leads to unnecessary tension in the neck and can reduce how effectively the shoulder muscles are being trained.
Small difference. Big impact!
