World Blood Donor Day
Te Rā Tuku Toto o te Ao 🩸🩸
While in Christchurch in May, I took the opportunity to donate blood.
It's a simple process, takes very little time, and has the potential to make an enormous difference in someone's life.
Every day, many of us rely on blood and plasma donations for surgery, cancer treatment, trauma care, childbirth complications, and many other medical conditions. Yet only a small percentage of eligible people donate regularly.
As healthcare practitioners, we often talk about helping people. Donating blood or plasma is another meaningful way to support our communities.
It is super easy to donate even when travelling. You can often fit a donation into your day. And enjoy a wee snack afterwards!
For those of us in Central Otago, the NZ Blood Service donor bus visits Queenstown, making it even easier to contribute closer to home.
If you've ever considered donating, perhaps this is your reminder.
👏A huge thank you to everyone who already gives. Your donation could help save or improve the life of someone else's parent, child, friend, colleague or neighbour.
