If your scrolling abilities can’t quite get you through all six slides, here’s the takeaway: WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. ☀️
Cloudy days included. And yes, even indoors, particularly if you’re spending time near windows.
You know I bang on about sunscreen, but for good reason.
If there’s one simple thing you can do to help prevent premature fine lines, wrinkles and photoageing, while preserving your skin’s integrity, it’s protecting the skin you’re in.
It’s our largest organ, after all. We really ought to look after it.
Now, a little sunscreen controversy…
Consumer NZ has just released its latest independent testing results, and 7 out of 10 sunscreens tested didn’t meet the SPF claims on their labels.
The good news? Three did exactly what they promised, including some really affordable options. Six of the others still provided high sun protection, but one claiming SPF50 tested at just SPF14.
That’s quite a difference when you’re trusting a product to protect your skin.
I’m not sharing this to frighten anyone off sunscreen. Quite the opposite. I want people to be informed about what they’re putting on their skin, and I think independent testing is incredibly important.
And remember, sunscreen isn’t your only line of defence. Cover up, find some shade, wear a fabulous wide-brimmed hat and be generous with your SPF. Reapply when needed.
Prevention is always going to be easier than repair.
Protect the skin you’re in. It’s the only one you’ve got.
