If you've noticed your energy & motivation dip, or your mood flatten lately; you're not imagining it.

Winter in Central Otago is beautiful. It's also relentless.

We tell ourselves we'll feel better when the sun comes back. We write off the tiredness, the irritability, the difficulty concentrating.

But what if this winter you took a different approach?

Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing some practical, evidence-based strategies to boost your mood through the colder months.

Starting with the most under-rated one: being kind to yourself & reducing self-expectations.

What's your biggest struggle this time of year? I'd love to hear. 👇

Awesome workshop last week with Weka Landscaping and Central Landscaping And Irrigation Ltd in Clyde.

Lots of fantastic conversations about:

* Creating safe workplace environments that are open, kind and supportive whilst also maintaining key work task competencies and boundaries

* Checking in on each other & what to look out for if someone may be struggling

* Maintaining work/home boundaries when self-employed & the challenges with this!

* The importance of family, interests and exercise

Thank you so much Andrew and Nicola for the privilege of working with your amazing team, and to Matt for your bravery joining in!

Workplace wellbeing is always more than yoga and a fruit bowl. It is manageable workload, it is kindness, it is feeling appreciated, it is clear communication & expectations, being real, being seen. Check out my Winter newsletter and blog to hear more!

Loved going a bit "off piste" last week with Growing Future Farmers, Southern region.

A group of 23 young farmers aged 17-19 - this called for practical, fun, interactive and relatable!

* Real life scenarios & a simulation of the stress response via a quick boot camp to practice box breathing & grounding techniques and experience the impact instantly.

* Reading nutrition labels & finding out sugar content in standard daily items (pretty confronting!)

* Developing a spotify play list for motivation, calm & concentration

* Contrasting a daily routine that is sleep prohibitive vs sleep inducing

* Creating your own sensory kit to support calm or alertness

* Identifying your controllables vs non-controllables within your "stress bucket"

Some of the fantastic takeaways from the group:

*To learn the signs of stress better and if I need help then to ask don’t just shut down"

"To get lots of rest and eat better and look after my self"

"Learning how to help manage my anger"

There is lots of rhetoric about Gen Z today - but this session proved something different.

23 young people that were highly engaged, open, motivated & striving to give their best. All the very best with the remainder of your programme; I am sure you will all nail it!

If you are seeking a customised wellbeing experience that meets the unique needs of your team - please get in touch, I love being creative!

Volunteers are the backbone of our community fabric in NZ. Giving hours of time, wisdom, skills and love.

It was a privilege to support this fantastic team at Journeys, Central Otago, who provide mentoring, confidence and skill development for young wahine through adventure and outdoor activities.

This workshop was all about the volunteers giving back to themselves, focusing on stressor awareness, self-care and filling their own cups!

Huge thanks to Kim and Megan for your foresight and care and making the event happen!
