Weekly Wellness Insight: The body is always listening

A fall. A knock. An unexpected injury.

In that moment, it helps to know what you can do.

One of my students discovered exactly that when a colleague had a sudden fall at work. Because she had learnt Sujok, she knew where to look on the hand and how she could offer some simple support.

That’s the beauty of Sujok — simple techniques you can learn before you need them, using the healing correspondence points found in your own hands.

In this reel, I show you the Sujok points traditionally used to support the head and neck following an impact.

Sujok — worth knowing before you need it.

⚠️ A significant blow to the head can require urgent medical assessment. Sujok is complementary support and should not replace appropriate medical care.

The Ayurvedic Winter Digestive Drink #| Amla for Agni & Gut Health

Winter can slow digestion, leaving you feeling heavy, bloated, and sluggish.

One of my favourite Ayurvedic remedies for this is Amla (Indian Gooseberry)—a remarkable fruit known for supporting digestion while helping to keep excess heat (Pitta) in balance.

Unlike most sour foods that tend to increase heat in the body, amla is unique. It has a cooling energy while still encouraging healthy digestive fire (Agni).

My simple pre-lunch digestive drink contains:
🍈 Amla powder 1/4 tsp
🫚 ginger 4-5 thin slices
🍋 Fresh lime juice 1/2
🌿 Mint 4-5 leaves
🧂 Black salt- a pinch
🌶️ Black pepper - a pinch
🍯 Honey - 1/2 tsp

Blend everything with a little water and enjoy before lunch.

Ayurvedic benefits include:
✨ Helps reduce digestive stagnation
✨ Supports healthy bowel movements
✨ Kindles Agni without aggravating Pitta
✨ Rich in natural Vitamin C (one of nature’s richest sources)
✨ Helps balance Vata, Pitta, and Kapha
✨ A wonderful support during the colder winter months

Remember, Ayurveda is about choosing the right remedy for the right person. If you have a medical condition or are taking medication, seek personalised advice before adding new herbs to your routine.

Have you ever tried Amla? Let me know in the comments.

What if ADHD isn’t the problem?

In Yoga, we’re taught not to identify with anything and certainly not to judge ourselves by a label.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, ADHD can be viewed through the lens of Vata: creativity, quick thinking, adaptability, spontaneity and the ability to see outside the box.

These can be incredible strengths.

The challenge comes when Vata becomes excessive or difficult to regulate, affecting the nervous system, sleep, digestion, eating patterns and our ability to feel grounded.

So perhaps the question isn’t, “How do I fix my ADHD?”

Perhaps it’s:

“How do I understand my system and learn to regulate it?”

I’ve spent much of my life learning how to work with my own fast-moving brain — through Yoga, Ayurveda, lifestyle, nervous-system regulation and the little tools that help me come back into balance.

You don’t have to put yourself in a box.

Understand yourself. Work with yourself. And learn how to thrive in the way you are wired.

If ADHD is part of your world, personally or through someone you love, I’d love to hear your experience.
