1. Belonging is an internal job.
When we find that sense of belonging within, we can take it with us wherever we go. We don’t need to wait to be invited, accommodated or for doors to open, we have it with us - got my phone, wallet, sunglasses, belonging! Check! This can be so freeing and empowering! One of the biggest ways I’ve found this internally is through the Inside-Out Way, a regular check-in witn body, heart, soul, mind and spirit. Not only do they have incredible wisdom to share, but I get to feel part of a team first thing in the day!
2. I deserve to be in the room. A big part of my trip to Colorado recently for a retreat was about giving myself permission to go, I felt worthy to be in the room. Past versions of me may have shied away, ah not for me, not at that level yet, lovely for everyone else. How can we belong when we are waiting on the front door step and not even ringing the bell! That just reminded me of a visual in my book of imagining myself at the front door of a party but no one could hear me ringing the bell. (Feeling now, I would just open the door (because in NZ it probably wouldn’t be locked) and heading on in!)
Anyhoo! You deserve to be in the room.
3. Deeper conversations, asking better questions! Ever get that feeling when you’re deep in conversation, so present, joy, connection, can I just stay here forever! Sure it’s got to be the right person, space etc to be able to go deep, but gold when it happens!
Do you have any thoughts on belonging, would love to hear!
