We're Hiring | Funeral Director / Embalmer

Are you looking for a career where you can genuinely make a difference in people's lives?

At Eagars Funerals, we help families say goodbye in a way that honours a life, reflects what matters most, and supports them through one of life's most difficult times. We're looking for a caring, reliable, and professional Funeral Director / Embalmer to join our growing team.

This is a unique and rewarding role that combines compassion, organisation, attention to detail, and practical hands-on work. While experience is an advantage, training and support will be provided to the right person.

Working in funeral service is about much more than what people see on the day. It's about helping families create meaningful farewells, caring for those entrusted to us, and being part of a team that makes a real difference every day.

If you're looking for a meaningful career, a supportive team, and a chance to serve your community, we'd love to hear from you.

📩 Please apply in strict confidence via Seek with your CV and cover letter.

Make a meaningful impact as a Funeral Director/Embalmer. Embrace a supportive environment and work with industry leading technology.

Congratulations to Scott and the team at VOID on this well-deserved recognition.

It has been a privilege to work alongside Scott to bring our vision for the future to life. From the very beginning, we wanted to create something more than a funeral home. We wanted a place that reflected our belief in the importance of care, community, and the need to make space for grief.

Grief is not something to be rushed. It deserves time, understanding, and an environment that gently supports people through one of life's most challenging journeys. That belief has guided every decision along the way.

What VOID has created is not just a building. It is a beautiful, thoughtful space that allows people to slow down, gather together, reflect, and remember. It provides room for connection, comfort, and healing when it is needed most.

Thank you, Scott, for understanding the heart behind the vision and for helping create a place that will serve our community for generations to come.

Congratulations again on the award and recognition.

A Perfect Day to Say Goodbye 🌊☀️
We recently received this heartfelt message from a family we had the privilege of caring for. Shared with the permission of the family, these words remind us why what we do matters so much.

"Hi Leland, I just wanted to send a personal thank you for all you did in getting us through Jamie's last weeks with us. I felt he was in safe hands on the last part of his journey. We all were.
Attached are pictures from his paddle out. The day was perfect. Thank you. Those that didn't paddle out stood on the beach or viewpoint on that beautiful Taranaki day and caught up with coffees in hand."
– Sara Mathieson

Jamie's paddle out was a beautiful reflection of the life he lived and his community. Surrounded by family, friends, the ocean he loved, and a stunning Taranaki day, it was a meaningful farewell and a chance for those closest to him to share stories, memories, and quiet moments together.
Thank you, Sara, for your kind words and for allowing us to share this special moment.

Shared with the permission of the Mathieson family.

We were honoured to look after a private family farewell, a quiet, heartfelt time together to say goodbye in their own way.

After the service, the family headed down to the beach, a well‑loved spot where many picnics had been shared over the years. They took the casket spray with them, and each chose a flower to place into the ocean, a simple, touching way to remember someone who meant so much.

We later received a lovely message of thanks, along with these photos, which the family have kindly allowed us to share.

Saying goodbye is never easy, but there are many gentle, meaningful ways to remember a life that’s been lived and loved.

A few weeks ago, Casey was looking after a funeral in Stratford. When they arrived at the cemetery, the grandchildren were curious about what would happen next.
Casey spent time with them, gently explaining what was going on and answering their questions in a way they could understand.

We know that everyone experiences grief differently, and that includes children. Taking the time to help them understand what’s happening can be an important part of helping them feel safe and supported. Grief and loss are part of love and part of life.

This moment was captured by a family member, and the photo is shared with their permission. 💙

On ANZAC Day, we pause with gratitude for the privilege of living in the country we do, mindful of a world still marked by disruption and heartache. We remember those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.
Today, we took the opportunity to wander through the Servicemen’s Section of Te Henui Cemetery, always beautifully maintained, and a tranquil place to reflect and remember.
“At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.”

Seeing the ripples reflect on the ceiling today, Anzac Day, seems rather symbolic. A reminder to reflect on the human sacrifice of war and remember those whose lives were lost.
