On Wednesday evening Dr Lisa Connelly presented to GPs in Auckland on Retrieve® (tretinoin 0.05%), exploring its established role in the treatment of acne vulgaris and the growing evidence around its role in photoageing.
The presentation looked at the effects of UV exposure and photoageing, including how skin responds differently to UV depending on individual skin characteristics.
Dr Connelly also discussed skin phototyping, including the Fitzpatrick scale as tools used to assess skin type, pigmentation and sun sensitivity — important considerations when assessing and managing sun-related skin changes.
The session also covered the clinical considerations around topical tretinoin, including appropriate patient selection, managing irritation and the importance of ongoing sun protection.
