🧠 Chinese Health Seminar: Preventing and Managing Dementia 🧠

TANI’s Health Promotion Team was pleased to partner with the Kiwi Chinese Association Trust to deliver a Chinese Health Seminar for the Central Auckland community on 20 May 2026 at Onehunga Community Hall.

The seminar focused on Preventing and Managing Dementia, providing valuable information to help community members better understand brain health and healthy ageing. We were honoured to have an expert from the University of Auckland deliver an engaging and informative presentation.

We were pleased to welcomed nearly 150 community members to the event. The seminar received highly positive feedback, with participants describing the session as informative, practical, and beneficial for maintaining the health and wellbeing of older adults. Attendees particularly appreciated the professional presentation and practical health advice that could be applied in everyday life.

This successful event strengthened community connections and encouraged participants to take a more proactive role in maintaining their physical, mental, and brain health.

🙏 Thank you to all attendees, our presenter, and our community partners for making this event such a success.

Recently, The Asian Network (TANI) hosted its Regional Network Meeting at the Western Springs Community Garden Hall, bringing together service providers, NGOs, and community members for a meaningful and informative hui.

Dr. Stephanie D’Souza from Auckland University of Technology shared valuable insights into perinatal depression, highlighting its long-term impacts on Asian and MELAA mothers in Aotearoa and the urgent need for more culturally responsive maternal health support systems.

Ivy Liang and Shirley Chen from Asian and Ethnic Health Services also presented the Healthy Mother Healthy Babies programme, which supports pregnant Asian women and mothers through workshops, counselling, social support, and health education initiatives.

We were honoured to welcome the India In Auckland - Consulate General of India, Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, to the meeting. Dr. Sethi acknowledged TANI’s journey and recognised the significant contribution the organisation continues to make towards the wellbeing of broader Asian and ethnic communities across Aotearoa. We sincerely appreciate his encouragement and ongoing support for our kaupapa.

Attendees were also provided with important election information and breast screening resources to support informed decision-making and community wellbeing. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, shared their experiences, and contributed to the discussions. We hope the session provided valuable insights, meaningful connections, and useful networking opportunities for all involved.
