Nia's review of Gibbston Valley Golf Club ⛳️

On Sunday, August 8th, 2026, I played nine holes at the Gibbston Valley Golf Course and had a fantastic experience. Definitely a 4.5 out of 5 stars! It’s an amazing short course featuring unique rocky obstacles along the fairways.

In my opinion, Hole 7 was the most challenging due to its extremely narrow fairway, framed by sharp rocks and a strategically placed tree right before the small green. The highlight of my round was the stunning views of the river and  the quietness of the course.

Overall, I loved playing golf at Gibbston Valley and really hope to return soon! 👍🙂⛳

This morning I had the privilege of attending a webinar on the past, present, and future of women in sport. What stood out most wasn't just the wealth of knowledge being shared, but the willingness of incredible women from around the world to collaborate, challenge ideas, and support one another.

Women's sport continues to evolve, and the more we learn, the more we realise that women are not simply "smaller men." Our bodies, hormones, recovery, and performance all change throughout different stages of life, and our approach to training, injury prevention, and rehabilitation needs to evolve with that understanding.

This is something I'm becoming increasingly passionate about for two reasons. Firstly, as the mum of a 12-year-old daughter who loves sport, I want her generation to benefit from research and support that simply wasn't available to many of us. Secondly, through my own sporting journey. I experienced very few injuries until my 40s. Since entering perimenopause and menopause, it's felt like one injury after another. What has fascinated me is that the rehabilitation advice often remains the same, despite our bodies clearly healing and responding differently during this stage of life.

It raises so many important questions. How should we be training? How hard should we be pushing ourselves? How much recovery do we actually need? And how can we better support women to continue enjoying sport for life?

There is still so much to learn, but conversations like today's give me hope. When we bring together research, lived experience, and collaboration, we create better outcomes for every girl and woman who wants to move, compete, and thrive.

Thank you to everyone who shared their expertise today. I left feeling inspired, curious, and excited to keep learning.
