🤎🖤 N I N A 🖤🤎

I’m a 1 year old Huntaway x girl from
📍Hamilton and I’m looking for a family who has plenty of time for adventures, cuddles and teaching me all the things! 💕

I’m a little timid when I first meet you, probably because I grew up on a big scary farm, but once I know you, I’m the biggest lovebug! I absolutely LOVE people, kids and other dogs. 🥰 I can be a little anxious when meeting new doggy friends at first, but soon enough I really just want to play!

Being a former farm girl, I have a few funny Huntaway habits. I like to grab things and carefully collect them all into one spot. 😂

I’m not a fan of cats though… I have chased them before, so a cat-free home would be best for me.

I LOVE the dog park, I can run for miles and I’m always up for an adventure. And when I get really excited, I stand up on my two back paws like a little meerkat! 🥹🐾

I’m vaccinated, flea and worm treated and ready to find my forever family. I will go on a desexing contract.

My owner has started a 12-hour job and sadly doesn’t have the time and patience I need anymore. I’m hoping that means my next chapter is going to be with someone who has plenty of time to help me blossom into the amazing girl I know I can be. ❤️

💔💔💔

Some dogs on your street don’t live much of a life.
They simply exist.

They live in the yard.
Sleep there.
Wake up there.
Tomorrow and the next day, they’ll do it all over again.

They watch the world through a gap in the fence.
Bark at the kids going past before school.
Dig another hole.
Wait at the door hoping today might be the day they get to come inside.

But they’re “too much”.

Too excitable.
Too jumpy.
Too noisy.

Funny thing is, when they were a puppy there were big plans.
Going to the beach.
Running in the park with the kids.
All those things everyone imagined.
Together.
That was the plan.

To be part of the family.
That’s what everyone said they wanted.

Somewhere along the way it got “a bit much”.
Training? Thought about it. Tried it for a week. Clearly “this dog can’t be trained”.

So back outside they go.

Imagine what it’s like for this dog.

Watching through the glass while everyone else is in the warmth. Hearing the talking, the laughing, the everyday noise of a family living their lives while they’re excluded.

Their life happens on the other side of those doors.

Then finally, as the sun goes down, the door opens.

Dinner.

They’ve been waiting for so much more than that though.

For someone to come out.
For somewhere to go. Something to do.
For a little bit of that family time that they were meant to be part of.

It was different once.
That squidgy puppy became a priority.
Then the puppy inside became the difficult adolescent.
The difficult adolescent became the dog who lived outside.

And outside simply became where they lived.

And when they finally do get to do something?

No.
Don’t pull.
Don’t sniff that.
Don’t jump.
Don’t bark.

But what did we expect?
When walks are rare.
When outings are a huge event because "they're a lot to deal with".
When almost everything beyond that fence is exciting because they experience so little of it.

A yard day in and day out isn’t a life.
It might be safe. There might be shelter, water and food every day.

But survival and a fulfilling life are not the same thing.

A dog shouldn’t spend their whole life watching ours happen through a window.

Waiting and waiting for their turn to actually live.

🐼🐻 M A V E R I C K 🐻🐼

Yesterday I was desperately posting for a foster home for this guy and superstar Kristen stepped in. Today he has met his forever family! 🥹
Kristen, you won’t be needed this time but I’m so grateful you offered a temporary home for him. 😍
Thank you to his beautiful foster mummies, Nicola and her daughter Zoe for giving him the best fresh start to life after a pretty horrible beginning.
What an amazing village! ✨
