Board Member Opportunity | Honouring the Mother

Help shape the future of maternal mental wellbeing in our community.

Honouring the Mother is a Tauranga-based charitable trust dedicated to promoting maternal mental wellbeing through perinatal support groups. After eight years of the organisation's founder groups supporting Mums in the community, we have recently registered as Charitable Trust to ensure this important kaupapa can continue to support our local Mums and we are seeking volunteer Board Members to help guide the organisation's future.

We are particularly interested in people with experience in:

-Community Governance and strategic leadership
-Finance and financial oversight
-Organisational management

Above all, we're looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting mothers through the perinatal period and strengthening outcomes for families in our community.

As a Board Member, you'll contribute your skills and experience to help ensure the sustainability and growth of an organisation making a meaningful difference in the lives of local mums.

If you are interested, please feel free to get in touch we'd love to chat further.

Grounding techniques to help you connect to the present moment.

While many mum & bub groups honour the new baby, our mission is to honour the mother.

Through honouring and supporting the mother, we are better able to support the mother baby bond, the whānau unit, and in turn, the wider community.

Supported mums = happy families

When mums are supported, validated and informed, then we can see changes 🥰

Come join us at one of our support groups where we tackle tough topics, give real information, practical tools and empower mums to get through the tough parts of motherhood 🙌🏼

We've been busy making changes at Honouring The Mother! 👩🏼‍💻

We want to always ensure that mums leave our sessions feeling lighter and more empowered and thought it was time for a session refresh! 💆🏼‍♀️

Our group session will involve more knowledge, more understanding, and more group collaboration around a specific topic 🧠

They will still be run by our amazing facilitators and supported by our beloved volunteers 🥰

If this new session sounds like something you could benefit from in your motherhood journey, click our website (link in bio) and submit your details for an initial phone call 🥰

Also, did we mention 😉 we're proudly funded by and this ensures that sessions are absolutely free to you 💕

A little look inside one of our course sessions! 👀

Next week is the end of our 6 week wellness course and I'm so excited to see the improvements mumas have made in their mental health 🥰

One way we track progress over the course is through the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, which is a well known and widely used tool for measuring mood in pregnancy & 12 months after in women📝

We administer the scale before the 6 week course and again after the 6 week course and it's always so heartwarming seeing the improvements mumas have 🧍🏼‍♀️.

We also gather other types of feedback to ensure we're delivering the best course we can 💕

If you think you'd like to attend one of our sessions, please fill out the referral form on our website and our facilitators will be in touch 🙌🏼

We're currently in our second round of our psycho education course for women that have recently given birth! A group of mums meet every week to discuss the topic of the week, share their lived experiences and insights and are guided through conversations by our amazing facilitators 🤱🏼

Our previous 6 week course showed amazing improvements in mumas mental health (as measured by the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale) and there have been some great feedback already from this round 😀

It's true that you only get out what you put in, and our mums have been doing just that! 👏🏼

Our 6 week courses & drop in sessions are proudly funded by 💕💕

Some days are heavier than others and that’s okay.

If you’re navigating motherhood challenges, just know you’re not alone and you’re doing better than you think.

Even the small things you do each day matter.
