We are proud to share that Pacific Lakes Village – The Pavilion has received a 2026 Waikato & Bay of Plenty Regional Architecture Award in the Commercial Architecture category from Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects.

Designed by Peddlethorp, The Pavilion was created as the social heart of Pacific Lakes Village — a place for connection, wellbeing and community. From dining and wellness spaces through to gathering areas overlooking the lakes, the design reflects our vision of creating exceptional environments for retirement living.

To receive this recognition alongside some of the region’s leading architectural projects is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the collaboration, creativity and care that shaped the project.

Water [wai] is the defining element of Pacific Lakes Village — not simply a scenic backdrop, but a cornerstone of both the development and the land the village stands on. Along the Papamoa coastline, wai has long shaped patterns of settlement and daily life. It sustained communities through its abundance and carried stories and knowledge across generations. At Pacific Lakes Village, we take a moment to come together in remembrance — to acknowledge the past, honour the present, and share in a quiet gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy.

Residents at Pacific Lakes Village stepped onto the runway this past weekend for a very special charity fashion show. After 10 weeks of training, 12 ladies and three gents perfected their walk, twirl and pose before confidently taking to the catwalk.

In front of a crowd of more than 160 guests, the resident models showcased outfits from Mount Maunganui boutiques including Black Pepper, Hilary Pointon Fashion, Status Clothing, Bettie Monroe, Magazine Designer Clothing and Robertson’s Menswear.

For many, stepping onto the runway was well outside their comfort zone. As resident Mike Rudd joked, “I thought dentists and women were my two scary things, but now I’m adding being a model.”

The event raised funds for the Cancer Society and was a wonderful afternoon filled with fun, confidence and community spirit. As organiser Jill Cotter said, the message is simple — whatever age you are, you can do it.
