12 August is a very special date for Klára ❤️🩸

In the Czech Republic, 12 August is St Clara's Day, making it Klára's official name day. Coincidentally, it's also the anniversary of several major milestones in her life: leaving for England as an au pair in 2001, marrying her husband in 2006, and this year reaching an incredible 200th blood and plasma donation.

Klára began donating in 2009 in memory of her mum, who received blood transfusions during cancer treatment. Since then, she has donated in the UK, Cambodia, and New Zealand, where she continues to be a regular donor.

While 200 donations is an amazing achievement, the real impact lies in the lives helped along the way.

Today, Klára celebrates her name day, wedding anniversary, first overseas adventure, and a remarkable donation milestone. A wonderful reminder that some gifts truly do keep on giving.

🎉 A huge congratulations to Tauranga plasma donor Fridolin, who reached an incredible milestone today with his 200th donation at our Tauranga Donor Centre!

A familiar face to the team, Fridolin was celebrated with a special artwork print and some well-deserved cake. 🍰

Despite the frosty conditions this morning, he still made time to come in and donate plasma, helping save lives across New Zealand. His dedication is an inspiring reminder of the difference regular donors make for patients in need.

And with winter well and truly here, the donor centre is a great place to escape the cold, take a seat in the warmth, donate plasma and help save lives.

A huge congratulations to Rob, who reached an incredible milestone last week with his 300th donation at our Tauranga Donor Centre. Thank you, Rob, for your ongoing commitment to helping save and improve lives. ❤️

Winter coughs and colds mean some regular donors are unable to keep their appointments, so we're looking for more donors to help meet demand.
This week alone in Tauranga, we need additional donors to fill:
🩸 63 whole blood appointments
💛 78 plasma appointments

Why not make this the week you start your own donation journey? One day, you could be celebrating a milestone of your own!
Book now via our website, the NZ Blood app, or call 0800 448 325.

😢 Unfortunately, due to a last-minute venue issue, we've had to cancel today's mobile blood drive in Tauriko.
The good news is there are still plenty of opportunities to donate! We'd love your help to make up for the donations we've missed today by booking in at the Historic Village mobile blood drive tomorrow or at the Tauranga Donor Centre this week.
If you're feeling well and eligible to donate, please book an appointment:

Tauranga Donor Centre will be closed on Friday, 10 July, in observance of the Matariki public holiday.
We'll be open as usual before then and again next week. While it's a shorter week, the need for blood and plasma doesn't take a holiday - patients still rely on lifesaving donations every day.
If you're eligible, we'd love to see you book an appointment.
Can't make it into the CBD? We'll also be out in the community next week at our mobile blood drives:
📍 Aquinas Action Centre on Monday
📍 The Historic Village on Tuesday
Book your donation today and make a difference this Matariki.
