The research by Tongalea-Nolan, Bellringer & Tiatia-Siau (2025) exploring Pacific peoples’ experiences in 12-Step recovery programmes found that connection, belonging, culture, spirituality, storytelling, and peer support are critical to healing and long-term wellbeing.

These are the same foundations that underpin the Tāne Run Community.

At the TRC, we create a safe space for men to connect through movement, whakawhanaungatanga, talanoa, and shared lived experiences. We recognise that wellbeing isn’t just about the individual—it’s about strengthening whānau, families, and communities.

The research reinforces what we see every week: when men feel connected, supported, and culturally grounded, positive change becomes possible.

We Run.
We Heal.
We Grow together.

Here’s a bit of context and background on why the TRC started, and how our recent funding drop is allowing us to provide a range of tāne-centred, community-based supports 🤝
